How it works
How we tell an outage from a bad day
- We count problem reportsUser reports for each service are counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours.
- We compare with normalEach window is checked against the usual level for that service, so a busy service isn't flagged just for being popular.
- We flag real spikesOnly a sudden jump well above normal counts as an outage. A few complaints on a quiet day don't.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if a website is down for everyone or just me?
Search for the service above. If its page shows reports well above the usual level, other people have the same problem and it is probably on the service's side. If reports look normal, the cause is more likely your connection, your device or the app.
Where does the status information come from?
Each status is based on user-submitted problem reports, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours and compared with the normal level for that service. A sudden jump well above normal counts as an outage.
How often is the status updated?
The data refreshes about every five minutes, and an open service page checks its status again every minute, so you can leave it open during an outage.
Can I get an alert when a service goes down?
Yes. Open the service's page and press Alert me. While the page stays open, your browser will notify you if the status changes.
Why does a service work for other people but not for me?
Problems that only affect you are usually local: an outdated app, an old browser cache, a VPN or DNS setting, or your home or mobile connection. Every service page lists fixes for the most common ones.
