Troubleshooting

How to fix Caixa Econômica Federal not working

When Caixa Econômica Federal itself is having trouble, these steps won't bring it back, but they will rule out anything on your side:

Your browser tries to reach caixa.gov.br over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Switch the Caixa connection

A weak Wi-Fi handoff can leave the login screen loading after you enter CPF or password. On iPhone, open Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off, then open Settings > Cellular and keep Cellular Data on for the test. On Android, open Settings > Network & internet > Internet, switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data, and try caixa.gov.br or the app again.

  2. Fix the phone clock

Banking apps can reject a session when the device time is wrong, even when the first screen opens. On iPhone use Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically; on Android use Settings > System > Date & time > Set time automatically.

  3. Clear caixa.gov.br in Chrome

Old cookies can make Internet Banking loop back to the CPF screen or show a blank page after login. In Chrome, open chrome://settings/clearBrowserData, choose All time, tick Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, then select Delete data. Open a new tab and type caixa.gov.br again.

  4. Reset the affected Caixa app

If CAIXA Tem, FGTS, or the account app opens but freezes after the password screen, clear the local app data before changing your access details. On Android, open Settings > Apps > See all apps > the affected app > Storage and cache > Clear cache. On iPhone, use Settings > General > iPhone Storage > the affected app > Offload App, then reinstall it from the App Store.

While Caixa Econômica Federal is down: what to use instead

  • CAIXA Tem If the main app or website is the problem, CAIXA Tem may still work for supported account access, Pix, and benefit payments.
  • Lottery outlet A lotérica can handle some bill payments and simple account services when you cannot get into the digital channels.
  • ATM Use a Caixa or Banco24Horas ATM for cash withdrawals and balance checks if your card and the ATM network are working.
  • Another bank app For an urgent Pix or boleto, an account at another Brazilian bank can be the faster fallback if you have money available there.

Same time

Problems at the same time as Caixa Econômica Federal

Since 3 November, all 11 of Caixa Econômica Federal's spikes in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.

When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

A spike is a sharp rise in problem reports from users, as the live pages showed it. Times are Central European time.

About

What happens when Caixa Econômica Federal goes down

Caixa Econômica Federal is Brazil's federal public bank, and workers, families, benefit recipients, and small businesses use it through caixa.gov.br and its apps. When the service has trouble, it can interrupt Pix, boleto payment, Caixa Tem access, and basic account checks.

During a Caixa Econômica Federal outage, the app may hang at login or leave a Pix transfer waiting instead of confirming. Login and confirmation steps tend to break first in Caixa Tem and Internet Banking, because those screens depend on bank authentication before a payment finishes. You may see a balance fail to load, a boleto stop before confirmation, a Pix transfer sit pending, or a message asking you to try again later. Problems are often partial and can look regional, because app login, site sessions, Pix, and benefit systems can break on separate paths.

Questions

Caixa Econômica Federal FAQ

Is Caixa Econômica Federal down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for Caixa Econômica Federal are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Those reports are sent by users to a public outage reporting service; this site does not monitor the bank or collect reports itself. If the status looks normal, try mobile data instead of Wi-Fi, reopen the app, and test caixa.gov.br in another browser before blaming the service.

Why can't I log in to the CAIXA app or Internet Banking with my CPF and senha?

A bad session can leave the login screen spinning after you enter your CPF and password. Close the app, update it from your phone store, and try again on a different connection. If both the app and Internet Banking fail with the same message, wait a bit before changing your password, because repeated attempts can make the block worse.

Why does CAIXA Tem stay on the waiting screen after I enter my CPF?

CAIXA Tem can place you in a waiting screen when access is heavy, especially around payments for benefits or account services. Keep the app open if it asks you to wait, since closing it can send you back to the start. If it loops after validation, check that the app is current and that your phone has the same number you use for bank checks.

Why did my Pix or boleto payment in the CAIXA app not show a receipt?

Do not repeat the payment until you check your account statement and the receipt area in the app. A Pix or boleto can look stuck on the confirmation screen while the bank is still showing the final receipt. If money left the account and no receipt appears, save the screen and check again from Internet Banking before trying the same payment again.

Why do FGTS or housing financing pages from caixa.gov.br keep sending me back to login?

Some services linked from caixa.gov.br open a separate Caixa login flow or a dedicated app, such as FGTS. A stale browser cookie can trap you in a login loop, so sign out, clear site data for the browser, and start from a fresh tab. If the same account opens in the mobile app but not on the website, the issue is probably with that browser session.

How we track Caixa Econômica Federal

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Caixa Econômica Federal, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Caixa Econômica Federal, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Caixa Econômica Federal doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
