How to fix TikTok not working

TikTok is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach tiktok.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Take TikTok off Wi-Fi

    On iPhone, open Settings > Wi-Fi and toggle Wi-Fi off; on Android, swipe down twice and tap the internet tile. Try another network. If videos start loading, the issue is your original connection.

  2. Clear TikTok's cache

    Open your profile, tap the menu, then Settings and privacy > Cache & cellular > Clear cache. On Android: Settings > Apps > TikTok > Storage & cache > Clear cache. The app rebuilds those files, and that fixes many cases of videos that spin forever or comments that will not post.

  3. Reinstall TikTok

    Save any drafts first because uninstalling the app deletes them. On iPhone, touch and hold the icon, tap Remove App > Delete App; on Android, touch and hold the icon, tap App info > Uninstall. Install it again from the App Store or Google Play, then sign in with the same account.

  4. Contact TikTok support

    In the app, go to your profile, tap the menu, then Settings and privacy > Report a problem, and describe what fails plus what you already tried. If the app will not open at all, use the help centre at https://support.tiktok.com/ from a browser. Support can check account blocks that a reinstall will not clear.

  • TikTok in a web browser If the phone app sits on a blank feed or keeps failing to load videos, the website on a laptop or in your phone's browser can still play the For You feed and open your inbox, because it doesn't depend on the app's own cache or update.

What happens when TikTok goes down

TikTok is a short-video app where people watch and post clips, go live, message each other, and shop in some regions. Creators, viewers, small sellers, and advertisers rely on it, so an outage interrupts feeds, uploads, messages, and paid campaigns.

When the service stutters, the For You feed may stop loading or replay old clips, and the app can show a generic something went wrong or network error even when your Wi-Fi or mobile data works fine. Uploads often fail first: you pick a video and add sounds or effects, then the post hangs before it finishes. Live streams and direct messages may drop or lag, and comments and notifications can arrive late. Problems are often partial, hitting one region or one app version while the rest of the app still works, so check whether friends on another network see the same thing.

Is TikTok down right now?

It does not ping or monitor the service. If the level looks normal but you cannot load videos or direct messages, try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, then open another app that needs internet. If that second app works, the trouble is likely on your device or network rather than the app.

Why does TikTok show a connection error when my Wi-Fi is fine?
The app can still fail if your router blocks video traffic or if mobile data is spotty. Force close the app and reopen it, then clear cache in settings if your device offers that option. If the same error follows you on mobile data, the issue is probably not your Wi-Fi.

Why won't my TikTok upload finish?
Uploads stall for two common reasons: a weak connection or a video file that is too large. Leave the app open on the upload screen and switch to mobile data if Wi-Fi drops. If it still fails, restart your phone and try a shorter clip to see whether the file is the problem.

Why can't I log in with my phone number or email?
Login trouble often comes from a mistyped country code or a password manager filling an old password.
