Troubleshooting

How to fix Netkom not working

Netkom is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach netkom.de over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Check Netkom report levels

Look at the status at the top of this page first. It shows whether public problem reports for the service are above their usual level in 15 minute windows over the last 24 hours, and it does not come from direct monitoring by this site.

  2. Restart your Netkom router

Unplug the router power cable, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in. If you use a FRITZ!Box, you can also open http://fritz.box, sign in, then go to System > Backup > Restart and choose Restart.

  3. Test the Netkom line status

If you use a FRITZ!Box, open http://fritz.box and go to Internet > Online Monitor. Check whether it says connected, then compare that with Internet > DSL Information if your line is DSL.

  4. Reset the device network

On Windows 11, open Settings > Network & internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset, then choose Reset now and restart the PC. On iPhone, open Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings; if the line still fails after the router is back online, use the Netkom contact page: https://www.netkom.de/kontakt/.

While Netkom is down: what to use instead

  • Mobile data hotspot Use your phone as a hotspot if the Netkom fixed-line connection at home has no internet and your mobile signal still works.
  • Another broadband line A second line at work, school, or a trusted neighbor helps when you need downloads, video calls, or online banking before service comes back.
  • Netkom contact page Open the contact page over mobile data if you need to report a fault or check your customer details while your home connection is out.
  • Phone call or SMS Use your mobile provider's voice or text service for urgent messages if internet calling, email, or chat will not load.
Same time

Problems at the same time as Netkom

Since 3 November, all 2 of Netkom's spikes in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.

When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

A spike is a sharp rise in problem reports from users, as the live pages showed it. Times are Central European time.

About

What happens when Netkom goes down

Netkom is a German telecom provider at netkom.de, used by households and businesses for fixed internet and phone service. An outage can cut off home broadband, business connections, and landline calls where those services share the same access line.

The first sign is often no internet at the router, or a connection that drops as soon as you load a page or start a call. Landline calls may fail to connect if the voice service depends on the same line. The customer pages at https://www.netkom.de/kontakt/ can also load slowly during a website problem, but that does not always mean the access network is down. Faults can be regional or partial, so one town, street cabinet, or access type may be affected while another still works.

Questions

Netkom FAQ

Is Netkom down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for Netkom are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Those reports go to a public outage-reporting service, and this site does not monitor the service or collect reports itself. To check your side, try another device, test by cable if you can, restart the router and fibre box, and see whether mobile data reaches the same sites.

Why does my Netkom fibre internet show Wi-Fi but no websites load?

Wi-Fi only means your device is connected to the router; the internet link can still be down. Check the router and fibre box lights, then restart both and wait a few minutes before testing again. If one laptop works by cable while phones fail on Wi-Fi, focus on the router settings or Wi-Fi signal rather than the line.

What should I do if my Netkom landline phone will not register?

A VoIP phone can fail while the internet connection still works, so test web browsing first. Restart the router, check that the phone is plugged into the right port, and look for a message about telephony registration in the router menu. If calls still fail after the internet link is stable, use the Netkom contact page: https://www.netkom.de/kontakt/.

Why is my connection slow on Netkom in the evening?

Slow speed can come from the access line, home Wi-Fi, or one device using bandwidth in the background. Run one test on Wi-Fi and one with a cable, then pause downloads, cloud backups, and TV streaming before testing again. If wired speed is fine but Wi-Fi is poor, move closer to the router or change the router placement.

What can I check before contacting Netkom about an outage?

Write down whether internet, phone, or both are affected, because that helps separate a line fault from a router or telephony issue. Check power, cables, router lights, and whether other devices in your home have the same problem. If the issue stays after a restart, contact support through https://www.netkom.de/kontakt/ and include the time the problem started.

How we track Netkom

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Netkom, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Netkom, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Netkom doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
