How to fix Eastlink not working
Eastlink is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Your browser tries to reach eastlink.ca over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Restart the Eastlink modem
Unplug the power cable from the modem, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in; if you have a separate router, unplug that too and bring it up after the modem settles. Then test one device.
Check the Eastlink coax and Ethernet cables
Hand-tighten the coaxial cable at the wall jack and at the back of the modem, then check the Ethernet cable between the modem and router. A loose or chewed cable can drop the link while the modem still has power, so look at the cable ends and swap in a spare Ethernet cable if you have one. Check both ends.
Test a laptop wired to the Eastlink modem
Connect a laptop to the modem with an Ethernet cable and turn off the laptop's Wi-Fi so the test uses the wire. Open one site. If pages load, the router or Wi-Fi is the weak point; if they fail, the problem sits with the modem or the line coming in.
Call Eastlink support with your modem lights
Note which lights are lit and which are flashing on the modem before you call, since support will ask for that first. Use the Eastlink help centre contact page to reach support, and say whether a wired laptop works when the router is out of the path.
While Eastlink is down: what to use instead
- Mobile hotspot Switch your laptop or tablet to a phone hotspot from another carrier when the home connection drops and you need email or a file.
- Public Wi-Fi Use library or cafe Wi-Fi for browsing and messages if you can step out and the home line is still down.
- Phone support Call the help centre number on your bill when the app will not load and you need an account change or a fault logged.
- Over-the-air antenna Switch to an antenna for local channels if the TV service is out and you only need news or weather.
Problems at the same time as Eastlink
Since 28 October, all 4 of Eastlink's spikes in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.
When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

What happens when Eastlink goes down
Eastlink is a Canadian telecom provider with home internet, TV, phone and mobile service, and households and small businesses depend on it for daily work and home use. When it goes down, browsing stops, video calls freeze, streaming stalls and calls or mobile data can fail.
An outage usually starts with pages that spin and fail to load, while apps that need a live connection time out or show a no internet message. Video calls freeze or drop, and streaming falls back to a lower quality before it stops. On the TV and phone side, channels may not load and calls can fail; smart home devices lose their cloud link and file backups stall when the internet side is out. Problems can be regional or limited to one service, so a neighbour on a different Eastlink product may see nothing wrong; the status at the top uses user problem reports, not a ping or probe from multiple locations, and shows whether those reports are above their usual level in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours.

How we track Eastlink
The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Eastlink, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Eastlink, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.
When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Eastlink doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
