Troubleshooting

How to fix StormFiber not working

When StormFiber itself is having trouble, these steps won't bring it back, but they will rule out anything on your side:

Your browser tries to reach stormfiber.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Check the StormFiber router lights

Look at the router's power and fiber lights; an off or red fiber light points to a line fault, while normal lights with no access on your phone point to the Wi-Fi link or device. Note which lights stay dark before you touch any cables.

  2. Rejoin the StormFiber Wi-Fi

Open Settings > Wi-Fi on your phone, forget the network name, then join it again with the password. If a second device works on the same Wi-Fi, the first phone or laptop is the likely fault.

  3. Power-cycle the StormFiber router

Unplug the router from power, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, and give it 2 to 3 minutes to settle. Test one device after the restart; if the same failure comes back, the issue is likely on the line or router side.

  4. Ping from the StormFiber connection

Run ping 8.8.8.8 from a computer joined to the router, using Command Prompt or Terminal. Replies mean the line works and the app or device needs a closer look; timeouts with a working Wi-Fi link point to the router or ISP side.

While StormFiber is down: what to use instead

  • Mobile hotspot Tether your phone or use a mobile broadband dongle when the home line is out.
  • PTCL A separate broadband line gives you another route to the internet if the fiber connection fails.
  • Nayatel In covered areas, another fixed-line provider can keep work and calls online during an outage.
  • Jazz A mobile data connection on your phone covers basic browsing and messages while the main line is down.
Same time

Problems at the same time as StormFiber

Since 28 October, all 4 of StormFiber's spikes in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.

When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

A spike is a sharp rise in problem reports from users, as the live pages showed it. Times are Central European time.

About

What happens when StormFiber goes down

StormFiber is a Pakistani fiber broadband provider for homes and small businesses. An outage cuts your internet link, so video calls, streaming, cloud work, and smart home devices stall or drop.

You see a dead Wi-Fi symbol or a page that hangs, then video calls freeze and streaming drops to a spinner. Downloads stop, cloud backups fail, smart plugs drop, and security cameras go offline. A partial fiber fault can leave one area working while nearby streets lose service, so the symptom may look local even when the provider's line is at fault. A broad cut sends problem reports up across a region; a thin spread points to your router or building wiring.

Questions

StormFiber FAQ

Is StormFiber down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for the service are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. To see if the fault sits on your side, test another device on the same Wi-Fi and try a mobile data connection. Restart the router once, then check whether every device on your line fails the same way; if it does, the trouble is local to the connection or beyond your router rather than one phone or laptop.

Why does my StormFiber Wi-Fi show connected but pages will not load?

A device can hold the Wi-Fi signal while the broadband link behind the router is down. Check the router lights for a lost internet or fiber signal, then restart the router. Try a wired test. If that works, the fault is in the Wi-Fi path; if it fails too, the problem sits with the line or router.

Can I keep using my StormFiber connection during a power cut?

The router needs mains power, so a power cut will stop Wi-Fi unless you have a backup supply for the router. The fiber line may stay up, but devices cannot use it without a powered router. When power returns, wait for the router to boot before testing.

Why did my StormFiber bill payment not show on my account?

Payments can take time to post, especially if you paid through a bank channel or a third-party service. Keep the receipt. Check the payment reference against your account before you pay again. If the amount has not posted after the stated processing time, contact support with the receipt and your account number.

Why is my StormFiber connection slower on Wi-Fi than Ethernet?

Wi-Fi speed depends on distance, walls, interference, and nearby networks. A wired test is the cleanest way to judge the line. If Ethernet is fine and Wi-Fi is slow, move the router into the open and check whether the slowdown follows one device. If both paths are slow, the problem is likely the line or router rather than the wireless setup.

How we track StormFiber

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for StormFiber, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for StormFiber, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. StormFiber doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
