How to fix CNBC not working
CNBC is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Your browser tries to reach cnbc.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Reload the CNBC player
On cnbc.com, press Ctrl+F5 on Windows or Command+Shift+R on Mac so the page reloads the video player instead of using cached files. In the mobile app, open the app switcher, swipe CNBC away, then reopen it and try the same video or live stream.
Turn off blockers for CNBC
A content blocker or VPN can stop ads or provider checks before the stream starts. In Chrome, open chrome://extensions and switch off ad blockers for a test; on iPhone, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > VPN and disconnect the active VPN.
Clear CNBC website data
If provider sign in loops or the player keeps spinning, clear only the site's stored data. In Chrome, open chrome://settings/siteData, search for cnbc.com, click the trash icon, and then sign in again; on Mac Safari, use Safari > Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data, search for cnbc.com, and click Remove.
Reinstall the CNBC app
If the app still crashes, remove its local copy and install a clean one. On iPhone or iPad, touch and hold CNBC, tap Remove App > Delete App, restart the device from Settings > General > Shut Down, and install CNBC again from the App Store.
While CNBC is down: what to use instead
- CNBC app or website If the stream stalls in the app, try cnbc.com in a browser, or switch back to the app when the site will not load.
- TV provider app If you watch the live channel through a cable, satellite, or live TV login, your provider's own app may carry the same channel.
- Bloomberg Use Bloomberg for market headlines and live business news when you only need the latest coverage, rather than a specific segment.
- Yahoo Finance Use Yahoo Finance for quotes, watchlists, earnings headlines, and basic market video while you wait.
Problems at the same time as CNBC
Since 4 November, CNBC's only spike in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.
When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

What happens when CNBC goes down
CNBC is a U.S. business news service with live TV, market coverage, video clips, articles, and apps tied to cnbc.com. Traders, investors, and viewers who keep it on during market hours lose live news, quote pages, and video access when it has an outage.
Live video and TV provider sign-in tend to break first, with the stream spinning, dropping back to a login screen, or showing that the video is unavailable. The app may still open while clips fail to play, articles load without images, or market data stops refreshing. Problems are often partial because video, authentication, news pages, and quote data do not all depend on the same path. Some outages look regional, since one ISP or device platform can have trouble while the website works elsewhere.

Tip: CNBC doesn't list a public status page that we know of, so its help centre and the report chart on this page are the best places to check.
How we track CNBC
The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for CNBC, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for CNBC, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.
When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. CNBC doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
