How to fix Thingiverse not working
Thingiverse is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Hard-refresh the stuck Thing page
Do a hard refresh. You hold Ctrl and press Shift+R on Windows, or hold Cmd and press Shift+R on Mac, while the Thing page stays open so the Download Files button and preview images load fresh.
Break the Thingiverse login loop
You need fresh login. Click your avatar, choose Log Out, then sign back in with the same method you used before so Makes or Collections open without bouncing you to sign-in.
Allow Thing downloads in your ad blocker
Whitelist this site. You allow ads and pop-ups for thingiverse.com in your blocker because the Download Files button and 3D preview often stall when scripts get stripped, then reload the Thing page and try again.
Clear site data for Thing pages
If gray boxes remain, try a clean check. You open Chrome Settings > Privacy and security > Delete browsing data, tick Cookies plus Cached images and files for All time, then restart and test Thing pages and login in a fresh profile.

What happens when Thingiverse goes down
Thingiverse hosts free models. It is MakerBot's library where 3D printer owners swap STL files, so when search or downloads stall you lose access to parts you planned to print.
When it struggles, you see search spin without results while Thing pages load without preview images because the file servers lag behind the main site. You stay logged out. Downloads either crawl or fail halfway, although you can still browse text descriptions and comments that loaded. Trouble is often partial with one Thing page broken while the next opens, so waiting and reloading the download button gets you further than logging in again.
