How to fix Crunchyroll not working

Crunchyroll is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

1. Reload the player first

   If the video spins forever or an error card replaces the episode, close the app from your recent apps list and open it again. In a browser, refresh the tab and start the same episode from your watchlist. A stuck stream often recovers on the retry.

2. Sign out and back in

   Open your profile menu from the avatar, choose Sign Out, then log in with the same account. A stale session leaves the player and your queue loading with nothing behind them. Try the same account in a browser to see whether the app alone is broken.

3. Turn off your VPN and switch networks

   Disconnect any VPN, because the service reads your region and blocks playback when the connection looks wrong. Move from Wi-Fi to mobile data, or the reverse, and load the episode again. If it plays on one connection and fails on the other, the connection is at fault.

4. Clear the cache or reinstall

   On Android, go to Settings, Apps, Crunchyroll, Storage, then Clear cache; clear data only if you accept logging in again. On iOS, delete the app and install it fresh from the App Store. If a second device on a different network also fails, check the official status page and the help centre before assuming the fault is yours.

While Crunchyroll is down: what to use instead

• Web browser When the TV, console or phone app hangs on a loading screen or a black player, try the website in a desktop browser, because a fault in one app does not always reach the web player.
• Downloaded episodes Episodes you saved for offline viewing in the iOS or Android app can still play when streaming fails, as long as the download finished before the outage.

• Netflix If you already pay for it, Netflix carries enough anime series and films to fill an evening while you wait for the service to come back.
