Troubleshooting

How to fix McDonald's App not working

McDonald's App is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach mcdonalds.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Force quit McDonald's App

On iPhone, swipe up from the bottom and pause, then swipe the app card up. On Android, open Recents and swipe the app card away; reopen it from the home screen. If the screen hangs on the logo or a blank panel, this clears a stuck session without touching your account.

  2. Check mobile data for the app

On iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular and check that the switch for the app is on. On Android, open Settings > Network & internet > Mobile data and toggle it off and on. If other apps load, focus on the app.

  3. Update McDonald's App

Open the App Store, tap your profile picture, then pull down to refresh the updates list. On Android, open Google Play, tap your profile icon, then go to Manage apps and device > Updates available. Install any pending update for the app and for your phone's OS, because older builds can fail at sign-in or checkout.

  4. Clear app data or reinstall

On Android, open Settings > Apps > McDonald's > Storage & cache and tap Clear cache first. If the app still fails at the menu or order screen, tap Clear storage, then sign in again. On iPhone, delete the app and reinstall it from the App Store; iOS has no per-app cache button.

While McDonald's App is down: what to use instead

  • Counter or drive-thru Order in person when the app hangs on the menu or will not take a payment, and pay with cash or a card at the till.
  • Self-order kiosk Many restaurants have screens near the counter, and those let you build a meal and pay by card while the app sits on a loading screen.
  • Restaurant phone line Call the location directly to check a pickup order or change something the app will not let you touch.
  • Ordering in a browser If your market runs ordering through the McDonald's website, a browser on a laptop or phone can still handle pickup or delivery while the app keeps closing.

About

What happens when McDonald's App goes down

McDonald's App is the mobile ordering, deals, rewards and restaurant finding app for customers. People rely on it for pickup orders and reward points; an outage interrupts menu loading, order submission, deal access and reward balance checks, while the status at the top of each page shows whether user problem reports are above their usual level in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours, and this site does not ping or monitor the service itself.

Menu loading breaks first. You tap a deal or open the menu and the app hangs on a spinner, or you get a generic try again message; if the app reaches checkout, an order may fail to submit and no confirmation appears. Reward points and saved offers can disappear from view while restaurant search still works, so the problem can look partial. Problems are often partial and sometimes regional: pickup or delivery may fail while another part of the app opens, and this site's report count only shows that other people are hitting the same wall because it does not check the service from multiple locations.

Questions

McDonald's App FAQ

Is McDonald's App down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for the service are above their usual level, and the count uses 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. The site does not ping or probe the app. To check whether the problem is only on your side, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, then open the same account on another device. See whether a restaurant menu or a deal loads without failing.

Why does the McDonald's App keep signing me out or looping on the login screen?

The app can drop a session when the token expires or when it cannot reach the account service; that often looks like a login loop. Sign out fully, then reinstall the app from your phone's store. If the loop continues on mobile data and another device, the account itself may need a support check.

Why does Mobile Order & Pay in the McDonald's App fail at checkout with a payment error?

A declined card or a billing address mismatch can stop checkout before the order reaches the restaurant. Check the card in your phone wallet and the billing address saved to your account. Try another card, then reopen the app and place the order again.

Why can't the McDonald's App find my location or show nearby restaurants?

The app needs location permission, and a weak GPS fix or a stale restaurant search can leave the list empty. Turn on precise location for the app, then search by postcode instead of relying on the map. If nearby restaurants still do not appear, test on Wi-Fi and mobile data.

Why do my McDonald's App deals or rewards points not show up?

Deals and points tie to the account you use at checkout, so a second login or a guest order can hide them. Sign out and back into the same account, then check the order history for a missing points entry. If the order used a different email, the deals and points usually stay with the first account.

How we track McDonald's App

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for McDonald's App, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for McDonald's App, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. McDonald's App doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
