Troubleshooting

How to fix eCAC not working

eCAC is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach cav.receita.fazenda.gov.br over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Open eCAC through gov.br

Open a private window with Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome or Edge, or Ctrl+Shift+P in Firefox, then go to https://cav.receita.fazenda.gov.br and choose Entrar com gov.br. If the password or two-step prompt fails, use Esqueci minha senha on the gov.br page before trying the portal again.

  2. Clear Receita cookies

In Chrome or Edge, open chrome://settings/siteData or edge://settings/siteData, search for receita.fazenda.gov.br and acesso.gov.br, and remove the stored data for those sites. Close the browser, open it again, and sign in from cav.receita.fazenda.gov.br so gov.br creates a fresh session.

  3. Allow Receita pop-ups

Chrome and Edge can block new windows that the portal uses for pages, receipts, or downloads. In Chrome, open Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects; in Edge, open Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Pop-ups and redirects. Add https://cav.receita.fazenda.gov.br under the allowed list, then repeat the action that failed.

  4. Check your digital certificate

If you choose certificate access, plug in the token or card reader before opening the browser. On Windows, press Win+R, run certmgr.msc, and check Personal > Certificates for a valid ICP-Brasil certificate issued to your CPF or CNPJ. If it is missing, reinstall the certificate chain and token or card driver from your certificate issuer, then restart the browser.

While eCAC is down: what to use instead

  • Receita Federal site Use the public pages for CPF, CNPJ, certidões and downloads when the task does not need an eCAC session.
  • Meu Imposto de Renda For income tax work, the Receita app or desktop program can help you prepare or send a declaration while the portal is failing.
  • SicalcWeb If you only need to calculate or issue a DARF, SicalcWeb is the safer fallback than waiting inside the portal.
  • Receita Federal atendimento For deadlines, identity issues or a blocked account, use Receita Federal service scheduling instead of retrying the same page all day.
Same time

Problems at the same time as eCAC

Since 3 November, all 2 of eCAC's spikes in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.

When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

A spike is a sharp rise in problem reports from users, as the live pages showed it. Times are Central European time.

About

What happens when eCAC goes down

eCAC is the Receita Federal do Brasil online service portal at cav.receita.fazenda.gov.br, used by individual taxpayers, businesses, accountants, and legal representatives in Brazil. An outage can interrupt gov.br sign-in, access to tax records, electronic case files, and requests such as payment plans or refunds.

Login trouble often shows up first, with the page sending you back to sign-in or stalling after gov.br authentication. Inside the portal, consultas, Caixa Postal, procurações eletrônicas, and processo digital pages may load slowly or fail after you submit a form. Some failures affect only one Receita Federal service while the main portal still opens, so a partial problem is common. Regional reports can happen, but many incidents look tied to the specific back-end service you are trying to use.

Questions

eCAC FAQ

Is eCAC down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether problem reports are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Those reports are sent by users to a public outage-reporting service; this site does not monitor the service and does not collect reports itself. Check your side by opening gov.br sign-in, trying another browser, switching networks, and turning off extensions that block cookies or pop-ups. If only your session fails while other Receita Federal pages open, clear cookies for cav.receita.fazenda.gov.br and gov.br, then sign in again.

Why does eCAC send me back to the gov.br login?

That loop often points to a broken session between the Receita Federal portal and gov.br. Close the tab, clear cookies for both sites, and sign in again from a fresh window. If it still loops, try another browser or network because stored login data can keep the bad handoff alive.

Why does my digital certificate not open services in eCAC?

Check that the certificate is valid and that your computer can see the token or smart card before you open the portal. If the browser asks for a certificate and then returns to the start, close the browser, reconnect the device, and try the gov.br login again. Some Receita Federal services also depend on the CPF or CNPJ tied to the certificate, so confirm you picked the right profile after sign-in.

Why can I enter eCAC but DCTFWeb or a DARF page will not load?

The main portal can open while a service inside it has trouble. Sign out, open the menu again, and avoid using an old bookmarked page for DCTFWeb or payment documents. If reports on this page are above their usual level, waiting may be more useful than changing settings.

Why does eCAC say my gov.br account level is not enough?

Some services require a higher gov.br account level or access through a digital certificate. Open your gov.br account settings and check the level shown there before trying the Receita Federal service again. If you are acting for a company, make sure you selected the company profile after login, not only your personal CPF.

How we track eCAC

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for eCAC, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for eCAC, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. eCAC doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
