Brave outages and problems
In the past 24 hours, 12 user reports came in for Brave. Counting only the 15-minute windows with a spike big enough to count as an outage, that comes to 100.00% uptime for the day.
The busiest 15-minute window had 3 reports, about 7 hours ago. That stays below our outage threshold, so it doesn't count as downtime.

How to fix Brave not working
Brave is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Your browser tries to reach search.brave.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Reload the Brave page
Reload the tab with the button or Ctrl+R; on Mac, use Command+R. If the same address still stalls, close that tab and open it in a new one, because a stuck tab process can survive a normal reload.
Open a Brave private window
Use Menu > New private window, then load the same page there. If it works, a cookie or extension in your normal window is the likely cause; keep the private window open while you narrow it down.
Turn off Brave extensions
Load brave://extensions in a new tab and switch off every extension. Reload the page after each extension you turn back on, because one add-on can break a site while the rest of the browser works fine.
Reset Brave settings
Open brave://settings/reset and click Restore settings to their original defaults, then confirm. This keeps bookmarks and passwords, but it resets startup pages and pinned tabs, so use it after the simpler checks fail.
While Brave is down: what to use instead
- Chrome Use Chrome when the Brave app will not launch or a page keeps failing, since it opens the same sites and supports the same Chromium extensions.
- Firefox Firefox helps when you want a separate browser engine for a site that misbehaves in a Chromium browser, and you can sign in to the same web services.
- Safari On a Mac or iPhone, Safari is already installed and can reach the same web pages while the app is unavailable.
- Edge Edge gives you another Chromium browser with its own sync and tab tools if you need a working window for email and work apps.
What happens when Brave goes down
Brave is a browser with built-in ad and tracker blocking, plus services such as Search, Sync, Rewards, and Wallet. You rely on it for fewer ads and trackers, plus cross-device continuity; an outage interrupts search results, sync updates, rewards activity, and wallet balance loads.
Search and Sync usually show trouble first because they rely on servers; the browser still opens saved pages. Rewards ads may stop counting, the Rewards panel may fail to refresh, Wallet balances may fail to load, and news cards may go stale. That split is common. One sync chain can update while another stalls, and Search may fail for you in a region while the browser itself is fine.

How we track Brave
The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Brave, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Brave, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.
When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Brave doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
