How to fix Kia Connect not working

Kia Connect is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach kia.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

Check phone data for the app
Check your phone's data first. On iPhone, go to Settings > Kia Connect and turn on Cellular Data; on Android, open Settings > Apps > Kia Connect > Mobile data & Wi-Fi and allow background data. A weak connection stops remote commands before they reach the vehicle.
Allow background access and restart
Give the app background access. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Kia Connect > Battery and choose Unrestricted; on iPhone, go to Settings > Kia Connect and turn on Background App Refresh. Close it from your recent apps list, then open it again.
Wake the vehicle's modem
Kia Connect needs the car's built-in modem to reach the network. Park outside or move away from a concrete garage, then start the vehicle and let the infotainment system boot. Try a door lock or climate command again.
Reinstall the app and get help
On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Kia Connect > Storage & cache, then tap Clear cache and Clear storage. On iPhone, delete the app from the home screen, then reinstall it from the App Store. Sign in again, and if remote commands still fail, contact Kia support through the help centre at https://www.kia.com/us/en/support.

Key fob Your fob still locks and unlocks the doors when the app can't reach the car, and if it has a remote start button you can warm up the cabin from close range.
Dashboard display Fuel range and tire pressure show on the instrument cluster once you're in the car.

Fix: Clear your web browser's cache and cookies, or try accessing the Kia Connect owners portal in an incognito window. Disable any active VPNs or ad-blockers that might block the login script from loading.

Kia Connect controls cars. You use it for remote start, lock, charge checks and map sends, so an outage kills phone control while your key and dash still work.

Remote start and lock fail first, so you tap the button and watch the loader spin with no confirm from the car. You wait and retry. Vehicle status, charge level, climate and last location freeze on old data while login loops or kicks you out, which leaves in car nav and driving safe. Trouble lands in patches, so your car can fail while a friend's works.

Is Kia Connect down right now?

If remote lock works on the Kia website but fails in the phone app after you force-close it and retry on Wi-Fi and cellular, the fault sits with the app on your phone.

Why do remote start and lock commands spin then fail?

Your car needs its own cell signal to take the command, so a garage or a sleeping modem blocks it even when your phone shows full bars. Move to open sky. You fix a sleepy modem when you drive the car and resend the command on strong signal.

My login fails or the app asks me to verify again, what should I do?

Sign out of the app on your old phone first, because two active sessions fight and the new login loops or still rejects your password. Reset it clean now. You clear most blocks if you delete the app, reinstall it, enter your Kia owner login by hand instead of autofill, and approve the email code within a short time.

Vehicle status shows an old location or fuel level, how do I refresh it?

You see stale data when the car sat parked without signal and could not push an update to the cloud. Wait for a sync. You force a fresh read if you start the car in the open with data on and pull to refresh the status screen in the app.

I am asked to renew before remote commands work, what gives?

Open the Kia owner portal and check the account that holds the car, because a lapsed trial or a second owner account without transfer stops remote commands. Use one login here. You restore access after you renew under the same email that owns the car and sign back in to the app, and help is at https://www.kia.com/us/en/support if the renewal screen stalls.
