How to fix Target not working
Target is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Your browser tries to reach target.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Force quit Target
On iPhone, swipe up from the bottom and pause, then swipe the Target card up; on Android, open Recents and swipe it away. If it still hangs on launch, restart the phone before trying again.
Check Target on another network
Turn off Wi-Fi in Control Center or quick settings and load the app over cellular; if that works, forget the Wi-Fi network in Settings > Wi-Fi and join it again. If both networks fail, the problem sits inside the app or the device, not the connection.
Clear Target app cache
On Android, open Settings > Apps > Target > Storage & cache and tap Clear cache. Reopen the app after it clears. On iPhone, delete the app and install it again from the App Store; a fresh install can replace damaged app files.
Reinstall Target or reset browser data
Delete the app and install it again from the App Store or Google Play; restart the phone if the first launch stalls. Corrupted local files can survive a force quit. In Chrome, clear cookies and site data through Settings > Privacy and security > Delete browsing data, then sign in again.
While Target is down: what to use instead
- Target website Use the browser checkout if the app freezes on sign-in or cart loading; the web cart is a separate path to the same order.
- Physical store Go to a nearby store if you need the item quickly and the app will not finish checkout.
- Debit or credit card Pay at the register with a card when the saved wallet or in-app payment screen will not open.
- Walmart or Amazon Order from either retailer if the outage blocks a needed purchase and you can wait for delivery.
Problems at the same time as Target
Since 27 October, Target's only spike in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.
When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

What happens when Target goes down
Target is a US retailer with stores, a website, an app, and same-day order services that households rely on for groceries and home essentials. An outage interrupts checkout and pickup alerts.
When the service has trouble, the website can load slowly or show a blank page, and sign-in or cart updates may fail before checkout does. Pickup alerts may stop. Store stock and order status can lag, and Drive Up or Order Pickup updates may not arrive, which leaves you waiting at the curb or unsure whether an order went through. Problems can be regional or partial, and the status at the top only compares problem reports with their usual level in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours; the site does not ping, probe, poll, or monitor the service itself and never checks from multiple locations.

How we track Target
The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Target, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Target, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.
When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Target doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
