How to fix Digicert not working

Digicert is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach digicert.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Inspect the cert chain in your browser

    Click the padlock in Chrome or Edge and open Connection is secure > Certificate is valid. Check Digicert Valid dates. If those dates look off you fix your clock in Settings > Time & language > Date & time then reload with Ctrl + F5.

  2. Sync clock and clear SSL state

    Press Win + R and open inetcpl.cpl to launch Internet Properties on Windows. You pick the Content tab and hit Clear SSL state, which drops old trust data that blocks sites with a cert from it.

  3. Test the chain with OpenSSL

    Your server can still send an incomplete chain so browsers distrust a good leaf. Open Terminal or PowerShell and run openssl s_client -connect yourdomain:443 -servername yourdomain to see what chain you send. Add the missing intermediate, then restart nginx or Apache.

  4. Reinstall the intermediate on your server

    If the chain test still shows a gap you replace the bundle on the server. On Windows open Run > certlm.msc and check Intermediate Certification Authorities > Certificates for the issuer that signed your leaf.

What happens when Digicert goes down

DigiCert is a certificate authority that issues TLS certificates for websites and code signing certificates for software publishers. An outage can block the CertCentral console and hold up certificate validation.

During an outage, the CertCentral console often breaks first: login attempts time out and API calls for new orders or renewals return errors. Domain validation can stall. You may approve a DNS TXT record or an email and see no confirmation, while ACME clients fail their challenges. Issuance backs up, so renewals you expected to finish on schedule do not complete; trouble is usually partial or regional, affecting one validation path or one region while other services still work.

Is Digicert down right now?

For confirmation open https://status.digicert.com and load CertCentral in an incognito window with your VPN paused, since bad cache or office filtering often mimics an outage.

Why is CertCentral stuck on pending validation for my certificate?
Your order stays in pending when DCV is incomplete, so check the approval email inbox or the DNS CNAME you added for a typo. You can resend the DCV email from CertCentral. If you used DNS, wait 5 to 10 minutes after fixing the record, then click recheck because propagation delays hold the status.

My site still shows not secure after I installed the certificate, what did I miss?
You still get the warning when the intermediate bundle is missing or tied to the wrong virtual host, so recheck the file you pasted on the server. Restart the service. Then hard-refresh your browser because old sessions cache the error long after you fixed the chain.

I can't log in to CertCentral with SSO or two-step verification, how do I get back in?
CertCentral rejects your login when the IdP claim does not match your username, so compare email case and domain in both dashboards. Ask an admin to reset access. If you lost your authenticator, use a backup code and re-enroll the new device before your next renewal window.

Why did my ACME auto-renewal fail to issue a new certificate?
ACME fails when its EAB key or account ID no longer matches CertCentral, so copy fresh values from the automation profile you use for that server. Fix the challenge path. You must leave port 80 open for HTTP validation and keep the token file reachable, since any redirect to login breaks issuance.
