Nine outages and problems
In the past 24 hours, 111 user reports came in for Nine. Counting only the 15-minute windows with a spike big enough to count as an outage, that comes to 100.00% uptime for the day.
The busiest 15-minute window had 7 reports, about 23 hours ago. That stays below our outage threshold, so it doesn't count as downtime.

How to fix Nine not working
When Nine itself is having trouble, these steps won't bring it back, but they will rule out anything on your side:
Your browser tries to reach nine.com.au over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Test another connection
Load a different site or app on the same device. If that fails too, fix the Wi-Fi or mobile data before you reload Nine.
Open Nine in a private window
In Chrome, use the three-dot menu > New Incognito window; on a phone, use the same menu > New Incognito tab. If the article or video loads there, an extension or saved cookie is the likely cause.
Clear Nine's site data
On Chrome for Android, open the three-dot menu > Settings > Site settings > All sites, find Nine, then tap Clear and reset. Reload the page.
Pause content blockers
Turn off any ad blocker or content blocker for Nine, then reload the page. If that fixes the video, allow the site in the blocker's settings or try a second browser without extensions.
While Nine is down: what to use instead
- the Nine website Open the browser version when the app will not load; the same stories and video are there.
- 9Now It helps for live channels and catch-up shows when the app fails before playback.
- ABC iview Try ABC iview for live TV and on-demand programs if the service stays down and you want something to watch.
- ABC News Check another news source for headlines and breaking stories when the site or app will not load.
Problems at the same time as Nine
Since 28 October, Nine's only spike in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.
When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

What happens when Nine goes down
Nine is an Australian media service with live channels, news articles, video clips, and catch-up shows on its website and apps. Viewers rely on it for live sport and news bulletins, so an outage interrupts the stream or catch-up playback you opened.
Live channels fail first: the player spins, then a playback error or a blank frame sits where the video should be, while menus and show pages still load. On-demand titles can open but refuse to start, and sign-in may loop back to the same screen. News pages often stay up while embedded clips and live bulletins fail, so the problem looks partial. You may see the website work while the TV app drops out, or one live channel fail while another plays; outages tend to hit a platform or region rather than the whole service.

How we track Nine
The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Nine, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Nine, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.
When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Nine doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
