Troubleshooting

How to fix Mint Mobile not working

When Mint Mobile itself is having trouble, these steps won't bring it back, but they will rule out anything on your side:

Your browser tries to reach mintmobile.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Toggle Airplane Mode and restart the Mint line

Open Control Center on iPhone or Quick Settings on Android, turn Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds, then off; restart the phone if the signal indicator still shows no service. This clears a stuck radio state and costs nothing.

  2. Check your Mint plan and data toggle

Use the app to confirm the line has an active plan, then go to Settings > Cellular on iPhone or Settings > Network & internet > SIMs on Android and confirm mobile data is on for the line. If the plan is expired or the toggle is off, you found the cause without touching APN fields.

  3. Compare the APN to Mint's activation values

Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network on iPhone, or Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network > Access Point Names on Android, and compare the APN fields with the values from your activation instructions. A wrong APN blocks data and picture messages while calls may still work.

  4. Reset network settings on the Mint line last

On iPhone, open Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings; on Android, open Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth. This erases saved Wi-Fi passwords and VPN profiles, so note them first, then reboot and test calls and data.

While Mint Mobile is down: what to use instead

  • Mint Mobile website Use it when the app won't open or keeps failing at sign-in; the browser version can reach account and payment pages.
  • Wi-Fi calling Turn it on in your phone settings when calls or texts fail on the mobile network and you have a stable Wi-Fi connection.
  • WhatsApp Use WhatsApp for calls and messages over Wi-Fi when the mobile line won't connect and the people you need are already on it.
  • A phone on another carrier Borrow a phone with a different carrier when you need an urgent call or a verification text, and keep the call short.
Same time

Problems at the same time as Mint Mobile

Since 27 October, Mint Mobile's only spike in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.

When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

A spike is a sharp rise in problem reports from users, as the live pages showed it. Times are Central European time.

About

What happens when Mint Mobile goes down

Mint Mobile is a prepaid wireless carrier that runs on a larger network. People on prepaid lines use it for calls, texts, mobile data, and account tasks in the app, so an outage cuts those basics first and can leave you without calls, messages, maps, and the two-factor codes that arrive by text.

Your phone can show "No Service" or sit on "Searching" while calls fail outright, and texts may queue or never arrive. Mobile data often fails first. That leaves maps and messaging apps stalled even when bars remain, and Wi-Fi calling can still carry calls over a home network if your internet is up. Trouble is often regional or partial, so one city or one phone model reports failures while another area works; account tasks in the app can fail when its servers are down.

Questions

Mint Mobile FAQ

Is Mint Mobile down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for Mint Mobile are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. The site does not ping or monitor the service itself, so treat the reading as a report signal; it does not run a live test. Start with your phone. To see if the problem is only on your side, switch off Wi-Fi, try another phone or SIM if you have one, check the app and your account page from a different connection, and make a simple call or data test.

Why does the Mint Mobile app say my SIM is not provisioned?

That message is common after a SIM swap. Activation may not have finished, or the phone has not picked up the new profile. Restart the phone, confirm the SIM or eSIM is active in your account, and run a manual network search; if the message stays, contact support with your order number ready.

Why does mobile data stop working on Mint Mobile after I leave Wi-Fi?

Your phone can hold a stale data session when it switches from Wi-Fi to cellular, and the APN settings may be out of date. Turn mobile data off and on, then restart the phone. If data still fails, reset the APN to default and check that the correct carrier profile is selected; MMS and picture messages often fail for the same reason.

Can I use a Mint Mobile eSIM on a phone that came from another carrier?

Only if the phone has eSIM support and the original carrier has removed its lock. A phone can look compatible and still reject the eSIM when it is locked to another network. Check the lock first, then start activation in the app; if the profile will not install, ask the original carrier about the lock status.

Why is my payment declined when I renew my Mint Mobile plan?

A declined renewal is usually a card issue: the expiration date is wrong or your bank has blocked the charge. Try another card. Update the billing address, then ask your bank to approve the payment; repeated retries can keep the block in place.

How we track Mint Mobile

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Mint Mobile, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Mint Mobile, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Mint Mobile doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
