DSTV outages and problems
In the past 24 hours, 160 user reports came in for DSTV. Counting only the 15-minute windows with a spike big enough to count as an outage, that comes to 100.00% uptime for the day.
The busiest 15-minute window had 11 reports, about 16 hours ago. That stays below our outage threshold, so it doesn't count as downtime.

How to fix DSTV not working
DSTV is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Your browser tries to reach dstv.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Force close the DSTV app
Swipe the app away from the recent apps screen, reopen it, and start the same channel or Catch Up title. If playback still stalls, close other apps that are using data in the background.
Refresh the DSTV app login
Open the app's account menu, choose Sign out, then sign back in with the same account details. Use this when the app loops back to the login screen or says your session has expired.
Clear the DSTV app cache on Android
Open Settings > Apps > DStv > Storage > Clear cache, then reopen the app. Do not tap Clear data unless you are ready to sign in again and lose downloads.
Restart the DSTV decoder
Unplug the decoder from the wall, wait a minute, plug it back in, and let it finish booting before you change channels. If the screen still says no signal, check that the cable from the dish to the decoder is finger tight at both ends and that the dish has a clear line to the sky.
While DSTV is down: what to use instead
- DSTV website Use the account area on the website when the app will not open and you need to check your account or pay a bill.
- Decoder remote Switch to live channels on the decoder when the app or streaming fails, since decoder viewing does not depend on the app.
- YouTube Open YouTube on your TV or phone for free clips and news while the service is unavailable.
- Netflix Use Netflix if you already pay for it and want films or series until the app works again.
Problems at the same time as DSTV
Since 28 October, all 3 of DSTV's spikes in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.
When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

What happens when DSTV goes down
DStv is a pay TV service with satellite channels and a streaming app. Subscribers and families across Africa rely on it for live sport, news, movies, and series, so an outage interrupts a live match, a recorded show, a movie, or a stream on the app.
When the service falters, your decoder often shows a no signal message first, and channels you expect can go black while others still load. The app is different: sign-in may stall or a live stream may fail to start, which also takes out Catch Up and on demand titles. Heavy rain can kill the satellite picture while the app keeps working; a loose dish or damaged cable can do the same. Problems are often partial, with one household or one region hit while other viewers keep watching.

How we track DSTV
The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for DSTV, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for DSTV, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.
When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. DSTV doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
