Troubleshooting

How to fix Jio not working

Jio is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach jio.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Refresh the Jio data connection

Turn on airplane mode from the Quick Settings shade or Control Center, leave it for 10 seconds, then turn it off. Open Settings and check that mobile data is on and the Jio SIM is the data line; on Android that sits under Network & internet > SIMs, and on iPhone under Cellular.

  2. Set the Jio SIM to 5G or LTE

On iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Voice & Data and pick 5G Auto or LTE. On Android, open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > Jio > Preferred network type and choose 5G or LTE; Samsung phones use Connections > SIM manager.

  3. Reboot the JioFiber router

If the trouble is home broadband, unplug the JioFiber router from the wall socket, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. Give it a few minutes to reconnect, then test a website on a device wired to the router and on Wi-Fi.

  4. Reset network settings for the Jio line

On iPhone, open Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings; this wipes saved Wi-Fi passwords, so have them handy. On Android, open Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth, then reconnect and confirm the Jio APN is set to jionet under Network & internet > SIMs > Jio > Access Point Names.

While Jio is down: what to use instead

  • Airtel or Vi SIM If calls or mobile data fail on the Jio network, a spare SIM from Airtel or Vi gives you a working line for calls or a hotspot.
  • Trusted Wi-Fi or hotspot When the home broadband drops, join a Wi-Fi network you trust or ask someone nearby for a hotspot so you can keep working.
  • UPI app or card A UPI app or a debit card covers a payment when the app will not load at the counter.
  • Spotify or YouTube Music For music, open Spotify or YouTube Music while the service recovers.
Same time

Problems at the same time as Jio

Since 28 October, all 10 of Jio's spikes in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.

When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

A spike is a sharp rise in problem reports from users, as the live pages showed it. Times are Central European time.

About

What happens when Jio goes down

Jio is an Indian telecom service with mobile data, calls, SMS, and home broadband. You may rely on it for work calls, school, payments, and streaming, so an outage interrupts several parts of your day at once.

Mobile data goes first. Pages stall and apps time out even when the signal bar looks normal; calls may fail before they connect or drop mid-sentence, while SMS can arrive late or not at all. Home broadband can go down too, taking streaming and video calls with it, and the MyJio app may show a blank screen or refuse to log in because it needs a working connection to load account details. Problems are often regional or partial, so one area or one service can fail while the rest keeps working.

Questions

Jio FAQ

Is Jio down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for Jio are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Treat that report level as a signal, not a live check of the service. To test your side, try the same app on another device and switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. If the problem follows one connection or one device, the fault is likely local.

Why does MyJio fail to load my account after I log in?

MyJio can fail when the app has stale login data or the connection drops during the account fetch. Force close MyJio, restart your phone, toggle Wi-Fi or mobile data, then sign in again over a stable link. If the account still will not load, open the same number in a browser on another device to separate an app fault from a network fault.

Why does JioFiber Wi-Fi drop while the Ethernet connection stays up?

A JioFiber router can keep Ethernet working while Wi-Fi drops because the wireless radio or range is the weak point. Move closer to the router, test another Wi-Fi band if the router has one, restart the router once, then retest in the same spot. If only one room loses signal, the issue is coverage rather than the fiber line.

Why does a Jio recharge payment fail in MyJio?

A recharge payment can fail when your bank declines the transaction or the app loses its data link during the payment step. Check that your card or UPI app has enough balance, try a different payment method, close other apps, then retry on a stable connection. Do not repeat the payment many times if your bank shows a pending debit; wait for the bank status to clear before you try again.

Why does JioTV stop playing when I switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data?

JioTV can stall when the app keeps a stale Wi-Fi session after your phone moves to mobile data. Close the app, toggle mobile data off and on, reopen the stream, then check the same channel again. If playback still fails, check whether other apps use mobile data and confirm the app has data access in your phone settings.

How we track Jio

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Jio, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Jio, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Jio doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
