Troubleshooting

How to fix Ewe TEL not working

Ewe TEL is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach ewe.de over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Check the EWE router path

Open a page on two devices while both are on your EWE Wi-Fi. If only one device fails, turn Wi-Fi off and on from Settings > Wi-Fi on iPhone, Settings > Network & internet > Internet on Android, or Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi on Windows.

  2. Restart the EWE home router

Unplug the FRITZ!Box or other EWE router from power for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and wait until the internet light stops flashing. If you have a separate fiber box, restart that first, then restart the router after it has its normal lights again.

  3. Refresh DNS on the device

On Windows, open Command Prompt and run: ipconfig /flushdns, then ipconfig /release, then ipconfig /renew. On macOS, open System Settings > Network > Wi-Fi > Details > TCP/IP and click Renew DHCP Lease.

  4. Check the FRITZ!Box log

If your EWE connection uses a FRITZ!Box, open http://fritz.box, sign in, then go to System > Event Log. Look for messages about DSL, fiber, internet login, or telephone registration, because those tell you whether the line, the router login, or only your device is failing.

While Ewe TEL is down: what to use instead

  • Mobile hotspot If your fixed internet is out, use your phone's mobile data as a hotspot for short tasks like email, banking, or messaging.
  • Mein EWE app or website If one login path will not load, try the other for bills, contract details, and customer messages.
  • Another trusted Wi-Fi If you need a video call or a larger download, use a work, school, hotel, or café connection you trust.
  • Backup mobile provider If you have a second SIM, mobile data from Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, O2, or 1&1 can cover basic access while your main line fails.
About

What happens when Ewe TEL goes down

Ewe TEL is EWE's telecom service in Germany, covering home broadband, landline phone service, mobile contracts, and Mein EWE account access. Homes and small businesses rely on it; during an outage, internet access, calls, billing pages, and app login can stop.

Fixed-line internet is usually the first thing you notice. The router may stay powered and Wi-Fi may still connect, but websites time out and video calls drop. Landline service over the router can fail to register; mobile data may still work, since the products do not always fail together. Mein EWE can also hang at login or bill pages, and problems are often regional or partial rather than nationwide.

Questions

Ewe TEL FAQ

Is Ewe TEL down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether reports are above their usual level. Reports that users send to a public outage-reporting service feed that status in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours; this site does not monitor the service or collect reports itself. To check your side, open a few other sites on mobile data and on your home connection, then compare Wi-Fi with a network cable if you can. If only your line fails, restart the router, check the wall cable, check the fibre or DSL modem, and look for a red internet light.

Why does Mein EWE reject my login or keep sending me back to the sign-in page?

Use the email address or customer number tied to the contract, not the line number from the router. If the page loops after you sign in, clear cookies for ewe.de or try a private browser window. A password reset can take a little time to reach your mailbox, so check spam before requesting several links.

Why does my EWE internet work by cable but drop on Wi-Fi?

That can point to the home network rather than the access line. Move close to the router and test again; thick walls and crowded 2.4 GHz channels can make a good line feel broken. If a wired device stays online while phones drop, change the Wi-Fi channel or restart the router outside a work call.

What should I check when a FRITZ!Box says the internet connection is interrupted?

Look at the DSL or fibre light first. If it keeps blinking, the router may not have a line signal, so reseat the wall cable and power-cycle the modem or ONT. If the line light is steady but pages still fail, log in to the FRITZ!Box and check whether internet access is connected.

Why is my EWE bill or direct debit not showing in Mein EWE?

New bills can appear in the customer account after the email notice, not at the same moment. Check that you are signed in with the contract holder account, because family logins or old move-out contracts can show a different set of documents. For a direct debit issue, compare the mandate and bank account shown in the portal with the latest paper or PDF bill.

How we track Ewe TEL

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Ewe TEL, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Ewe TEL, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Ewe TEL doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
