Troubleshooting

How to fix Assassin's Creed not working

Assassin's Creed is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach assassinscreed.ubi.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Restart the Ubisoft Connect session

Close Assassin's Creed and quit Ubisoft Connect from the system tray, not just the window. Open Ubisoft Connect again, sign in, and launch the game from Library so the entitlement check runs fresh.

  2. Check the game files

In Ubisoft Connect on PC, open Library, select the game, then choose Properties, Local files, Verify files. Let the check finish before you relaunch, since a missing file can stop the game at splash screen or during loading.

  3. Clear the Ubisoft Connect cache

Close Ubisoft Connect, then press Windows key + R and open C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\. Rename the cache folder to cache_backup, start Ubisoft Connect, and try the game again.

  4. Restore console access

On PlayStation 5, go to Settings, Users and Accounts, Other, Restore Licenses, then restart the console. On Xbox, open My games and apps, highlight the game, press Menu, choose Manage game and add-ons, and confirm the base game plus owned add-ons are installed.

While Assassin's Creed is down: what to use instead

  • Ubisoft Connect Use the desktop app to launch owned PC games or check downloads when the franchise website will not load.
  • Console library On PlayStation or Xbox, open your game library and start an installed Assassin's Creed game without using the website.
  • Digital store pages Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, and Microsoft Store can show editions or downloads if Ubisoft's site is unavailable.
  • Offline play If the game is already installed and supports offline mode, solo content may still work while online account features wait.
About

What happens when Assassin's Creed goes down

Assassin's Creed is Ubisoft's historical action adventure game series, with entries on console and PC. Players in Canada rely on it for game access, account sign-in, add-on content, and Ubisoft Connect features, so an outage can stop a session before it starts.

Sign-in tends to show trouble first. You may see the game loop on Ubisoft account login, fail an ownership check, ask for your password again, or say online services are unavailable before the main menu loads. Store pages, add-on downloads, cloud saves, and Ubisoft Connect rewards can also stall when the account side has trouble. Problems are often partial or regional, since public outage reports may cluster around one network or platform while other players keep playing.

Questions

Assassin's Creed FAQ

Is Assassin's Creed down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Those reports go to a public outage-reporting service; this site does not monitor the service or collect reports itself. If the status looks normal, test your side by restarting the game and Ubisoft Connect, then try another network or device to see if the same sign-in or connection problem follows you.

Why can’t I sign in to Ubisoft Connect for Assassin's Creed?

A bad Ubisoft Connect session can block sign-in even when the game itself opens. Close the game, quit Ubisoft Connect fully, then sign back in with the Ubisoft account tied to your copy. If you use a console, unlinking accounts can cause more trouble, so check the linked account in Ubisoft Connect before changing anything.

Why does Assassin's Creed say it can’t connect to Ubisoft services?

That message often appears when online checks, rewards, cloud saves, or store content cannot reach Ubisoft services. Restart the game and your router, then try again with a wired connection or a different network. If offline play works but online features do not, the problem is probably with the account connection or the service path rather than your installed game files.

Why are my Assassin's Creed cloud saves or rewards missing?

Cloud saves and Ubisoft rewards depend on the same Ubisoft account you used before. Make sure the game opened under the correct profile on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox, and give Ubisoft Connect a fresh sign-in if the save list looks empty. Do not overwrite a local save until you are sure the cloud save has synced.

Why didn’t my Helix Credits or add-on content appear after purchase in Canada?

Paid content can take time to show, and it must match the platform account and Ubisoft account used by the game. In Canada, check that the console store or PC store profile is the one that bought the content, then restart the game and Ubisoft Connect. If the purchase receipt is present but the content stays missing, use the purchase history from that store when you contact support.

How we track Assassin's Creed

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Assassin's Creed, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Assassin's Creed, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Assassin's Creed doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
