How to fix Life360 not working

Life360 is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach life360.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

Check for a sharing pause
Have them open the app, go to Settings, and turn Location Sharing back on if it is off; the circle map often shows a pause note for that member. One paused toggle explains why everyone else updates and that person does not.
Set location access to Always
On iPhone, go to Settings > Life360 > Location, choose Always, and turn on Precise Location; on Android, open Settings > Apps > Life360 > Permissions > Location and allow all the time. Without that, the app can only show their last known spot.
Lift battery restrictions
On Android, open Settings > Apps > Life360 > Battery and set it to Unrestricted; on iPhone, turn on Background App Refresh under Settings > Life360. Battery saving cuts background updates, so one phone goes stale while the rest of the circle keeps moving.
Reinstall and rejoin
Update Life360 from the App Store or Google Play, then force close it and reopen; if the member still shows no location, reinstall the app and sign back in. When the circle is missing after that, ask another member for a fresh invite.

Fix: Fix Life360 on Android by clearing the app's cache in your device settings and ensuring location permissions are set to 'Always Allow'. You should also check the Google Play Store for any pending updates to the Life360 app.

What happens when Life360 goes down

Life360 is a family locator app: it puts each member of a circle on a shared map and carries messages, place alerts and crash detection on iPhone and Android. Parents watching a teenager's drive home, partners sorting out a pickup and adult children keeping an eye on a parent living alone all lean on it, so an outage takes the map, the alerts and the check-ins down together.

The map usually goes first: pins freeze at the last location they loaded, or the circle lists members as offline while their phones still have signal. Place alerts and arrival notifications stop coming through, and in-app messages sit unsent even though ordinary texts still go out. Crash detection and SOS ride the same connection; a silent app is a reason to call the person instead of assuming they are fine. Trouble is often partial, with one phone on a different carrier or in another region dropping out while the rest of the circle keeps updating, and the status at the top of the page reflects user reports counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours rather than a check of the app itself.

Is Life360 down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether problem reports are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. If the level looks normal, check the official status page for a posted incident. To rule out your side, open the app on a second device and ask someone in your circle to check their phone.

Why does Life360 show 'Location sharing is paused' for someone in my circle?

That label means the member turned off sharing on their phone or the system blocked location access, so the map keeps their last known spot. Ask them to open the app and turn sharing back on; then check the app's location permission.

Why is my location not updating in Life360?

Check permissions first. The app needs location access set to Always or While Using, and Precise Location must be on. Battery saver and Android battery restrictions can also cut off background updates.

I bought a Life360 membership but the app still asks me to subscribe. What should I check?

Confirm you are signed in with the same Apple or Google account you used to buy the membership, then use the restore purchases option in the app. If the membership still does not appear, contact the help centre with the receipt.

Why does Life360 say my phone number is already in use?

That message usually means an existing account already has the number, so try signing in with it before you make a new one. If you cannot get into that account, the help centre can help with recovery.
