Troubleshooting

How to fix Armstrong not working

Armstrong is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach armstrongonewire.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Reload Armstrong in a private window

Open a private or incognito window, sign in again, and load the page that failed. That skips your extensions and old cookies, so if the page works you know to disable extensions one by one or clear the site data in your normal browser.

  2. Clear Armstrong site data

In Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy and security > Delete browsing data, then choose Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files; on macOS Safari, choose Safari > Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data and remove the entry for the service. A stale cookie can leave you stuck on a broken sign-in loop, while the cached script keeps reloading the same failure.

  3. Rule out Armstrong network blocks

Disconnect any VPN or proxy, then load the service on cellular data. If it fails only on your usual Wi-Fi, set the router DNS to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 or set a custom DNS in your device network settings; a local resolver can return a bad address while the service itself is fine.

  4. Capture an Armstrong browser trace

Open DevTools with F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I, go to the Network tab, tick Preserve log, and reproduce the failure. Save the HAR file. Write down the exact error text you see; that trace shows whether a request was blocked or the page never loaded at all.

While Armstrong is down: what to use instead

  • Mobile data Turn off Wi-Fi on your phone to keep messages and maps working when the home connection drops.
  • Mobile hotspot Use your phone's hotspot for a laptop if you need to send a file or check an account before service returns.
  • Public Wi-Fi Use a library or cafe network for longer tasks when your home connection is out.
  • Phone support Call the provider from a mobile phone to report the outage and get updates if the app or website will not load.
Same time

Problems at the same time as Armstrong

Since 27 October, Armstrong's only spike in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.

When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

A spike is a sharp rise in problem reports from users, as the live pages showed it. Times are Central European time.

About

What happens when Armstrong goes down

Armstrong is a regional cable and internet provider for homes and businesses, and its broadband line feeds work VPNs, streaming apps, smart thermostats, and security cameras. When the service drops, those devices lose their outside connection and the cable box can stall on the guide or on-demand menu.

You may see a page hang on 'This site can't be reached' while the router still shows a connection; a phone may report 'Connected, no internet.' Work VPNs drop first because they need a stable route; streaming apps fall back to buffering, smart thermostats and cameras go offline, and email stops syncing. TV may keep playing. Outages often hit a node or a single street, so you lose broadband while the cable guide still loads; on-demand can fail while internet stays up.

Questions

Armstrong FAQ

Is Armstrong down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for Armstrong are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. It does not probe the service, and it never checks from multiple locations. If your connection fails, restart the modem and router, then try a phone on cellular data. When pages load on cellular but not on your home Wi-Fi, the fault is likely in your home network or device.

Why does my Armstrong internet drop on Wi-Fi while a wired device stays online?

Wi-Fi drops with a live wired link usually point to the router's wireless side. Restart the router and test a wired connection to the same router; if the wired link holds, change the Wi-Fi channel or replace the router.

Why does my Armstrong TV box show a black screen on one channel?

A single dead channel can come from the channel feed, the box, the outlet, or the cable at that outlet. Try the same channel on another box; if only one outlet fails, swap the box. If every channel is black, restart the box and look for a loose coax cable.

Why can't I sign in to my Armstrong account after a password reset?

A sign-in loop after a reset often comes from a stale saved password in the browser or app. Clear the saved login, close the browser, reopen it, and sign in with the new password. If the account still fails, the reset may not have reached the account record, so contact the provider.

Why does my Armstrong bill show a late fee after I paid online?

A payment made close to the due date can post after the cutoff, and a bank draft can take a few days to clear. Compare the payment date on the bill with the draft date in your bank account; if they do not match, ask the provider to review the fee.

Why does my Armstrong cable TV pixelate and freeze during rain?

Rain can get into a loose coax fitting or a damaged drop, and the signal drops when water reaches the cable. Tighten the fitting at the wall and the box, then look for a cracked cable jacket outdoors. If the picture still breaks up on wet days, the drop needs a technician.

How we track Armstrong

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Armstrong, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Armstrong, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Armstrong doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
