Troubleshooting

How to fix US Bank not working

US Bank is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach usbank.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Restart the U.S. Bank app

Close the app from the app switcher and reopen it. If the login screen stalls, turn Airplane Mode on for a few seconds and then off so the phone drops the old connection and reconnects.

  2. Try U.S. Bank on another network

On iPhone, open Settings > Cellular and confirm the app is on in the Cellular Data list. Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data. Try the login again, because a blocked network can leave the page stuck.

  3. Clear the U.S. Bank app cache

On Android, open Settings > Apps > U.S. Bank > Storage & cache and tap Clear cache, then reopen the app and sign in. Leave Clear storage alone; it erases saved sign-in details and set-up.

  4. Reinstall the U.S. Bank app

Delete the app, then install it again from the App Store or Google Play. A phone restart before you sign in can clear a stuck install, and you will need your login details to get back in.

While US Bank is down: what to use instead

  • US Bank website Open the site in a browser if the app crashes or hangs; balances and transfers can work there when the app does not.
  • Debit or credit card Swipe or tap the card at a store if the app will not load, and use the card number online when the payment screen stalls.
  • ATM Use an ATM for cash and balance checks when mobile banking is unavailable; the machine needs no app.
  • Phone line Call the number on the back of your card if you need to report it lost or ask about a pending charge.

About

What happens when US Bank goes down

US Bank is a national bank. Customers and small businesses rely on its app and online banking for balances, payments, transfers, and deposits, so an outage interrupts the work of checking whether money arrived or a bill cleared.

When the app or online banking falters, sign-in and account loading break first, so you may see a spinning screen or an error after entering your password. Transfers and bill pay can fail next. Mobile check deposit may reject a photo without a clear reason, and card payments can still go through while the app shows stale pending activity. The trouble can be partial, with the mobile app failing while online banking works or one region reporting more trouble than another; the status at the top reflects user problem reports counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours, and it never tests the bank's systems itself.

Questions

US Bank FAQ

Is US Bank down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether problem reports for US Bank are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. To check if the problem is only on your side, switch from Wi-Fi to cellular and try a second browser; then check another app that needs internet and sign in from a different device. That narrows it down.

Why does the US Bank app keep signing me out?

The app can sign you out after a timeout or an app update. Set your phone to update its date and time automatically, then sign in on one connection and see if the session holds; that sign-out is normal security behavior.

Why did my mobile check deposit to US Bank fail?

A deposit can fail if the check image is blurry or the amount you entered does not match the check. Endorse the check and retake both photos in even light; check the app for a deposit limit or hold message before you try again.

Why does US Bank bill pay show a payment as pending?

Bill pay can show a payment as pending while the service sends it electronically or by check and the payee has not posted it. Open the payment details to see the send date and the deliver-by date. Contact the payee if the deliver-by date passes and your account still shows no debit.

Why does Zelle in the US Bank app say my transfer can't be completed?

Zelle can fail when your recipient has not enrolled or your daily limit is reached. Open the Zelle activity screen, confirm the contact details, check the recipient's enrollment, and try a smaller amount after the limit resets.

How we track US Bank

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for US Bank, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for US Bank, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. US Bank doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
