Troubleshooting

How to fix Adobe Creative Cloud not working

When Adobe Creative Cloud itself is having trouble, these steps won't bring it back, but they will rule out anything on your side:

Your browser tries to reach creative.adobe.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Check Adobe's status page

Open Adobe's official status page in a browser and look for Creative Cloud. A posted outage means the fault is on Adobe's side, so local changes will not help until it clears. If nothing is listed, move on to the next step.

  2. Quit and reopen Creative Cloud

Close the app from the system tray on Windows or from its menu on macOS, then start it again. This clears a stuck sign-in or update prompt without changing your installed apps.

  3. Sign out and back in

In Creative Cloud, click your profile icon at the top right and choose Sign Out, then sign back in with the same Adobe ID. If the sign-in window hangs, close it and reopen the app before trying again.

  4. Reinstall from Creative Cloud

Open Creative Cloud and select the affected app under Apps > All apps. Use its three-dot menu to choose Uninstall, then install it again from the same screen; this replaces damaged app files while cloud documents stay in your account.

While Adobe Creative Cloud is down: what to use instead

  • Affinity Photo Open Affinity Photo for retouching or exporting an image when Photoshop will not launch, then move the file back after the app recovers.
  • Canva Use Canva in a browser for a quick social post or slide deck if you cannot get into the desktop design apps.
  • DaVinci Resolve Cut and export a video in DaVinci Resolve when Premiere Pro will not open and the edit cannot wait.
  • Photopea Edit a layered PSD in Photopea from a browser when Photoshop will not open and you need to fix a file.
Same time

Problems at the same time as Adobe Creative Cloud

Since 27 October, Adobe Creative Cloud's only spike in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.

When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

A spike is a sharp rise in problem reports from users, as the live pages showed it. Times are Central European time.

About

What happens when Adobe Creative Cloud goes down

Adobe Creative Cloud is a subscription set of desktop and mobile apps for design, photo editing, video, and document work, and freelancers, studios, agencies, and in-house teams rely on it for daily production. Outages break cloud sync.

Sign-in trouble or an app that hangs at launch usually shows up first; after that, Libraries and font sync can fail while local editing still works. Sync icons can hang. The report count at the top of the page shows whether user problem reports are above their usual level in 15-minute windows over 24 hours; it does not probe or monitor the service, so treat it as a signal from other people, not a live test. Outages can be partial or regional; check the official status page before you reset settings.

Questions

Adobe Creative Cloud FAQ

Is Adobe Creative Cloud down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether reports are above their usual level. Check the official status page listed above. If it shows no incident, try a different network and open the same app on a second device. A failure that stays on one device points to a local install or account sign-in problem; the same failure on both devices points to the network or your account.

Why does the Creative Cloud desktop app say 'Unable to connect to Adobe servers' when my browser works?

That message can appear when a proxy, VPN, firewall, or hosts file blocks the app's sign-in traffic; your browser can still load other sites because it uses a different path. Disconnect the VPN and switch to another network. If the app still fails, check any proxy or firewall rule for Adobe domains. A connection that works on a phone hotspot but not on your office network points to the office network.

Why do my Creative Cloud apps keep asking me to sign in or show a licensing warning?

Repeated sign-in prompts and license warnings can mean the app cannot reach the Adobe identity service, or your subscription payment has failed. Close the desktop app and sign in again; if the warning returns, open the account page in a browser and confirm the subscription is active. Apps that open in trial mode or close with a license message need that account check first.

Why is Photoshop stuck on 'Loading Creative Cloud' or closing with a licensing error?

Photoshop depends on the Creative Cloud desktop app for sign-in and license checks, so a frozen 'Loading Creative Cloud' screen can stop the editor from opening. Quit both apps and reopen the desktop app, then wait before you launch Photoshop; if it still hangs, remove and reinstall the desktop app, then sign in again. A licensing error that closes Photoshop after launch can mean the app needs a fresh sign-in or the subscription is paused.

Can a failed card payment stop my Creative Cloud apps from opening?

Yes. If a card fails, the subscription can go on hold, so the desktop app and individual apps may ask for a valid license. Update the payment method in your account page, then sign out of the desktop app and back in to refresh the license. If the account page shows the plan as active and the apps still block you, contact Adobe support from the account page.

How we track Adobe Creative Cloud

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Adobe Creative Cloud, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Adobe Creative Cloud, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. This is separate from Adobe Creative Cloud's official status page: user reports tend to show a problem early, while the official page confirms the cause. If the two disagree, check both.
