How to fix Tuta not working

Tuta is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Open Tuta's official status page first. If it lists an incident, the fault is on Tuta's side and you can wait for an update. If it does not, the problem is likely local or with your network.
Switch network or turn off VPN
Turn off any VPN or DNS filter, then switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data and open Tuta Mail again. A bad route or a blocked port can stop the app from reaching the server. If mail loads on mobile data, restart your router or forget the Wi-Fi network and join it again.
Sign out and back in
Open Tuta Mail, go to Settings, and sign out, then sign back in with your full email address and password. If you use two-factor authentication, enter the current code from your authenticator app. If the code is rejected, use a recovery code from Tuta's help centre.
Clear cache or reinstall Tuta Mail
On Android, open Settings > Apps > Tuta Mail > Storage & cache > Clear cache, then reopen the app. If that does not help, uninstall the app and install it again from your app store. Only do this if you know your password.

What happens when Tuta goes down

Tuta is an encrypted email service with a calendar and contacts built in, and you reach it through a browser or apps for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux. Reporters and law firms keep accounts there, so when it breaks, mail stops arriving and the calendar will not load.

Sign-in breaks first. The web client sits on its loading screen, and a password that worked yesterday comes back rejected. Once you are inside, sending jams before reading does, so a message parks in the outbox and then fails with a sending error, though older mail still opens from the cache. Calendar and contacts stall the same way, and trouble is often partial: the Android app can be dead while the browser version loads fine.

Why are my Tuta Calendar events missing from the mobile app?

Calendar sync can stop when the app is offline, when battery saver limits background work, when you are signed into a different account on the phone, or when the local sync database has gone stale. Open the calendar in a browser and check whether your events appear there. If they do, update the app, then turn off battery optimization for it on Android or allow background refresh on iOS. A reinstall usually clears a damaged local cache.

I lost my Tuta 2FA device and cannot log in. What can I do?

Use the recovery code you saved when you set up two-factor authentication, because that code can get you back into the account. If you did not save it, try another device where the app is already signed in and disable 2FA from the settings. Contact support through the help centre at https://tuta.com/support if neither option works. Recovery without the code can take time, but the account is not gone.

Why did my Tuta subscription payment fail?

A card can fail because the bank blocked the charge or the card expired. Open the subscription settings and check whether the payment shows as failed. Update the payment method and try again; if the charge still fails, ask your bank or the help centre at https://tuta.com/support. Do not open a second account, because your paid features are tied to the first one.
