What happens when eBay goes down

eBay is an online marketplace where people buy and sell new and used goods through auctions and fixed-price listings. Sellers rely on it to reach buyers worldwide, while shoppers use it to find everything from electronics to collectibles, so an outage blocks transactions and prevents both sides from completing sales.

During an outage, the site may refuse to load or show a generic error page instead of listings. Signed-in users often lose access to their watchlists, bidding history, or seller dashboards, while checkout can fail partway through payment.
