How to fix Remitly not working

Remitly is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

  1. Switch networks and retry

    Turn off Wi-Fi in Control Center or Quick Settings and retry the transfer over cellular; if that fails, turn Wi-Fi back on and disable cellular data. A weak connection can stop the app from loading the transfer screen or refreshing a payment method.

  2. Force quit and reopen

    On iPhone, swipe up from the bottom edge, pause, and swipe the Remitly card up. On Android, open Recents, swipe the app away, then tap its icon to start fresh.

  3. Update the app

    Open the App Store or Google Play and install any pending update for Remitly. An old version can fail at sign-in or when you add recipient details.

  4. Clear cache or reinstall

    On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Remitly > Storage & cache > Clear cache, then reopen the app. On iPhone, delete the app and install it again from the App Store; on Android, do the same from Google Play if clearing the cache does not help. If the transfer still fails, open the help centre at https://help.remitly.com.

What happens when Remitly goes down

Remitly is an app and website for sending money abroad. People use it for regular support payments and one-off transfers, and when the service has trouble, sign-in can stall while you cannot start or track a transfer.

The first sign is usually the app or website hanging on sign-in, or a login that loops back to the password screen. Once you are in, starting a transfer may fail when you pick a recipient or enter an amount, and card payments may fail even though your bank is fine. Sent transfers can sit at pending while the tracking screen does not update and a bank deposit or cash pickup can stall. Why is my Remitly transfer still pending after the money left my bank?
Banks and card issuers post debits before the transfer clears. A pending transfer can sit while the payment side finishes or a verification step runs. If the money left your account and the app still shows pending past the estimate, open the transfer and look for a request for more information. Contact the help centre with the transfer number; do not send the same transfer again, because that can create a duplicate.

What can I do when my card payment keeps getting declined?
Card declines usually come from your bank's fraud controls or from card details that no longer match your issuer's records.
