Troubleshooting

How to fix Free Fire not working

Free Fire is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach ff.garena.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Check the Free Fire report level

The bar at the top shows whether problem reports for the service are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. That tells you where to look. If reports sit at the usual level, look at your device and network before you change anything; if they are high, wait and try later.

  2. Force stop Free Fire and reopen it

On Android, open Settings > Apps > Free Fire > Force stop, then launch the app again from your home screen. On iPhone, swipe up from the bottom edge and swipe the app card up to close it. Reopen it and try a match.

  3. Switch Free Fire to another network

Turn Wi-Fi off and try mobile data, or turn mobile data off and join a Wi-Fi network you trust. If the game still stalls, open Control Center or Quick Settings, turn Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds, turn it off, and retry. Load a match.

  4. Clear the cache or reinstall Free Fire

Start with the cache if you use Android: open Settings > Apps > Free Fire > Storage & cache > Clear cache; do not tap Clear storage unless you accept losing local data. If the app still fails at launch on either platform, uninstall it and install it again from the same app store. Sign in with your usual account, then play one short match before you change more settings.

While Free Fire is down: what to use instead

  • PUBG Mobile Use this if you want another mobile battle royale and your phone has room for a large game.
  • Call of Duty: Mobile Use this for fast team deathmatch or battle royale rounds.
  • Fortnite Play it on a supported console or PC if your squad wants a cross-platform battle royale and mobile is not required.
  • Minecraft Swap to a downloaded offline world if the outage runs long and you only need something to pass the time.
Same time

Problems at the same time as Free Fire

Since 28 October, Free Fire's only spike in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.

When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

A spike is a sharp rise in problem reports from users, as the live pages showed it. Times are Central European time.

About

What happens when Free Fire goes down

Free Fire is a mobile battle royale shooter, and the status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for it are above their usual level over the last 24 hours, counted in 15 minute windows. Players on Android and iOS rely on it for short squad matches, so an outage interrupts login, matchmaking, and the match itself.

The first signs are usually a failed login and a lobby that will not load. Matchmaking can hang, squad invites may not arrive, the store can stall, and a match that starts can drop into lag or a disconnect before the result screen. Problems often hit one region or one platform harder, so your friends may stay online while your match search fails. A partial outage can leave chat working while matches fail to start, which makes the game look fine until you queue.

Questions

Free Fire FAQ

Is Free Fire down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether problem reports for the service are above their usual level, counted in 15 minute windows across the last 24 hours. Those numbers come from what people report, because the site does not ping or probe the game itself. No official status page is listed above for it. To find out whether the fault is yours, switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data, force close the app and reopen it, and try a match on another device; if the game loads there, the problem sits on your side.

I keep getting stuck on the Logging in screen. What should I check?

That screen usually means the app cannot reach the login server, or your saved session has gone stale. Force close it, clear the app cache in your device settings, and reopen on a steady connection. If you sign in through Facebook or Google, confirm that account still has access to the app. Check the store for a pending update too, since older versions get refused at login.

My Diamond payment went through but the Diamonds never arrived. What now?

Give it a few minutes first, because top ups sometimes land after the store receipt does. Reopen the app and check your balance again rather than buying the same pack twice. If the Diamonds are still missing, take the order receipt from Google Play or the App Store to in game support along with your player ID, and let the store handle the refund side. Reinstalling will not fix it and can cost you a guest account.

I reinstalled the app and my progress is gone. Can I get my account back?

It depends on whether you bound the profile to Facebook, Google, VK or Apple before the reinstall. Guest accounts live on the device, so wiping the app or moving to a new phone takes the progress with them. Try each sign in option on the login screen, one at a time, in case you used a different one than you remember. If none of them restore the old profile, contact in game support with your player ID and nickname from before, and a receipt from any past purchase helps them trace it.

The update or the resource pack will not download. How do I get past it?

The game pulls large resource packs after a version update, and a flaky connection often stalls them partway through. Free up storage first, since a full device tends to fail at the same percentage every time. Then move to Wi-Fi if you were on mobile data, keep the app in the foreground, and let the download finish without locking the screen. If it still dies at the same point, clear the cache and start again.

How we track Free Fire

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Free Fire, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Free Fire, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Free Fire doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
