Is DreamHost down right now?

Why does my WordPress site say "Error establishing a database connection"?

That message means WordPress reached the web server but could not reach the MySQL database, which usually points at a wrong or changed database password, a deleted database user, or a database host that will not answer. Open wp-config.php and compare the DB_NAME, DB_USER and DB_HOST values with what the panel shows for that database. If the credentials match, the database itself may be down, since a stopped MySQL process throws the same error.

Why can't I log into the DreamHost panel?

Panel logins fail for two common reasons: a wrong password, or two-factor codes that no longer match your phone's clock. Reset the password from the login screen and check that your authenticator app keeps the correct time, because a code even slightly out of sync gets rejected. If you changed your account email, confirm you are signing in with the current address. Browser cookies and extensions can block the login form too, so try a private window once.

Why is my DreamHost email not arriving?

Mail often stops in one direction only, and that tells you where to look: if you can send but nothing arrives, the problem is usually on the receiving or filtering side, while nothing sending at all points at the SMTP settings in your mail client. Confirm the mailbox exists in the panel's mail section and that the client uses the server name shown there. Messages rejected as spam rarely bounce back, so ask the sender to check their sent folder.

Why does my site show a 500 error after I changed a plugin or theme?

A 500 error means the script ran and failed, so the page itself gives you nothing to read. The error log in the panel holds the real message. Rename the plugins folder over SFTP to force WordPress to switch them all off, then turn them back on one at a time until the error returns. A theme with a syntax error behaves the same way, so test by reverting to a default theme.
