How to fix PureVPN not working

PureVPN is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach purevpn.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

Try a different PureVPN location
Disconnect in the app. Then you can open the server list and pick a city or country, because a tired server can block a login while neighbours stay fast.
Switch the VPN protocol
Open Settings with the gear icon and choose Protocol. You can change it from Automatic to WireGuard or OpenVPN, since a path can fail on public WiFi while another path gets you back in.
Turn off Kill Switch and retry
Your VPN shows connected yet pages never load. You can turn off Internet Kill Switch in Settings, then press Connect again, for the switch can hold traffic shut after a drop even when the tunnel is back.
Reinstall the app and clear the profile
Delete the app from your device. On iPhone you also remove its profile under Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. Then you restart the phone and get a fresh copy from the App Store or Google Play, so a bad update or stuck login token stops blocking you.

What happens when PureVPN goes down

PureVPN is a VPN. Remote workers and travelers run it on Windows and Android to stay private, so a failure leaves you offline and cut from all work tools.

You press connect and the app sticks on connecting or kicks you to the login screen because authentication fails on the backend for some accounts. Single countries drop first. You can open the server list while the UK or US nodes refuse connections and other regions still let you through.

Is PureVPN down right now?

Why does PureVPN keep disconnecting on my phone?

Aggressive battery optimisation is the usual culprit, because Android and iOS both kill background VPN processes to save power. Set the app to unrestricted battery use and turn on the kill switch so traffic does not leak during a reconnect. If it drops only on mobile data, your carrier may be blocking the VPN ports; switching protocol from automatic to something lighter often holds the tunnel open.

PureVPN connects but I get no internet. What gives?

The tunnel is up, but DNS is not resolving through it, which is why pages hang while the VPN icon stays lit. Disconnect, then reconnect and pick a different server, since one overloaded endpoint can leave you with a dead route. Flushing DNS on the device or switching to the app's built-in DNS option fixes it more often than reinstalling.

Why does PureVPN say my account has reached the device limit?

The service caps how many devices can sit on one subscription at the same time, and old phones you no longer use still count until you remove them. Log in to the member area and drop devices you have retired, then reconnect. Sharing credentials with family is the other common reason the count fills up.

Can I use PureVPN in a country that blocks VPNs?

Some networks block VPN traffic outright, so the app hangs at 'connecting' or fails before the handshake finishes. Try a different protocol and an obfuscation setting if the app offers one, because plain OpenVPN and WireGuard are easy to fingerprint. Check the help centre at support.purevpn.com before you travel, since rules vary by country and a blocked network is not the same as an outage.
