Troubleshooting

How to fix Albert Heijn not working

Albert Heijn is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach ah.nl over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Reload the AH app

Close the Albert Heijn app, then open it again and retry the basket or checkout screen that failed. On iPhone, swipe up from the bottom and pause, then swipe the app away; on Android, open the app switcher and swipe the app away.

  2. Test ah.nl without blockers

Open https://www.ah.nl in Safari or Chrome on the same connection. If the page loads there but the app fails, turn off a VPN for the test: iPhone uses Settings > VPN, and Android uses Settings > Network & internet > VPN.

  3. Clear AH app cache

On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Albert Heijn > Storage & cache > Clear cache, then reopen the app. If checkout or login still loops, use Clear storage from the same screen, but be ready to sign in again.

  4. Reinstall the AH app

On iPhone, touch and hold the app icon, choose Remove App > Delete App, then install it again from the App Store. On Android, open Settings > Apps > Albert Heijn > Uninstall, then install it again from Google Play and sign in before checking your basket or Bonus card.

While Albert Heijn is down: what to use instead

  • AH app or ah.nl If one channel fails, try the other, since basket, delivery slots, Bonus Box, and order details may still load there.
  • Albert Heijn store For groceries you need today, shop in a store and use a plastic Bonuskaart if the app will not show your card.
  • Jumbo Jumbo is a common Netherlands supermarket choice for online grocery orders or a quick store trip.
  • Picnic Picnic can help if you only need grocery delivery and can wait for an available slot.

About

What happens when Albert Heijn goes down

Albert Heijn is the Dutch supermarket chain behind ah.nl, the AH app, online groceries, Bonus offers, and delivery or pickup orders. Shoppers in the Netherlands rely on it for weekly groceries and order changes, so an outage can interrupt checkout, delivery planning, and discount scanning.

The app often shows trouble first. Login can loop, your Bonus card may not load, or the basket can stop updating before checkout. On ah.nl, product pages may still open while delivery slots, payment return pages, or order changes fail. Problems can be partial and tied to postcode-based delivery areas, so one shopper may only lose delivery planning while another cannot sign in at all.

Questions

Albert Heijn FAQ

Is Albert Heijn down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for Albert Heijn are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Those reports come from a public outage-reporting service, not from checks run by this site. If the graph looks normal, try ah.nl in a private browser window and on mobile data; if the same error appears on another device or connection, the problem is less likely to be only on your side.

Why can I not sign in to my Mijn Albert Heijn account?

A failed login can come from a bad password, an expired session, or the account service refusing the request after you try again too many times. Reset the password if the app keeps sending you back to the login screen, and close the app before you try again. Short pause. If the website and the app both reject a known good login, check the status here before changing account details again.

Why is the AH app not showing my Bonuskaart or offers?

The app needs your account session before it can show your Bonuskaart, personal offers, and saved shopping details. Sign out and back in, then check that the card is still linked to the same account you use for online shopping. If offers load on ah.nl but stay blank in the app, update the app or reinstall it after saving any order changes.

Why does my online grocery order or checkout get stuck on ah.nl?

Checkout can hang when a delivery slot changes, an item becomes unavailable, or your browser keeps an old basket session. Refresh the basket, remove the last changed item, and pick the delivery or pickup slot again. If the order freezes on both the website and the app, wait before rebuilding the whole basket, because repeated edits can make it harder to see what was saved.

Why does payment fail after I choose iDEAL in the Albert Heijn checkout?

iDEAL payment can fail if the handoff to your bank does not open, if you go back too soon, or if the checkout session expires while you are in the banking app. Do not place the order again until you check whether the order appears in your account and whether your bank shows a reservation or payment. If no order is listed and no payment appears, start a fresh checkout session rather than reusing the old payment tab.

How we track Albert Heijn

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Albert Heijn, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Albert Heijn, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Albert Heijn doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
