Zelle outages and problems
In the past 24 hours, 146 user reports came in for Zelle. Counting only the 15-minute windows with a spike big enough to count as an outage, that comes to 100.00% uptime for the day.
The busiest 15-minute window had 10 reports, about 17 hours ago. That stays below our outage threshold, so it doesn't count as downtime.

How to fix Zelle not working
Zelle is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Your browser tries to reach zellepay.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Restart the Zelle app
Force quit the app, reopen it, and switch Wi-Fi or cellular data off and on from Control Center or Quick Settings. If the payment screen hangs, try a different connection before you enter the amount again.
Check the Zelle contact details
Tap Send, choose the contact, and check that the name on the confirmation screen matches the person you mean to pay; a stale email or phone number can stop the payment. Ask the recipient to open their Zelle app or bank app and confirm that contact is enrolled and verified.
Update Zelle and clear its cache
Update the app from the App Store or Google Play: on iPhone open the App Store, tap your profile, then Update; on Android open Google Play, tap your profile, then Manage apps & device > Updates available. On Android you can also open Settings > Apps > Zelle > Storage & cache and tap Clear cache. If login still fails, reinstall the app from the same store and sign in again.
Call your bank about Zelle
Call the number on the back of your debit card and ask for the team that handles Zelle; if your bank's app has a Support or Help section, you can start there. Ask the bank to check your Zelle enrollment and any hold on the account. Keep the failed payment details ready so the agent can trace the transfer.
While Zelle is down: what to use instead
- Venmo Venmo helps when your friend already uses it to split bills or send rent.
- Cash App Cash App is a fallback if your recipient has it and can take the transfer on a phone.
- PayPal PayPal works when you need to send money to someone who uses PayPal or when both sides want the transfer listed in an account.
- Bank transfer Your bank's online transfer can move money when you can wait for a standard bank transfer and the recipient only needs it in a bank account.
Problems at the same time as Zelle
Since 27 October, Zelle's only spike in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.
When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

What happens when Zelle goes down
Zelle is a money transfer service used through participating bank apps, and people rely on it for rent and for splitting bills; the status at the top counts user problem reports in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. An outage interrupts sending and requesting money, and it can leave a payment pending or break the confirmation a recipient expects.
Sending money usually fails first. A transfer stalls at review or returns a generic error, and the recipient may see nothing even after the sender gets a confirmation. Requests and alerts can lag behind, because the bank app and the payment network do not fail at the same point. Problems are often partial: one bank's Zelle tab can fail while another bank works, and a failed payment alone does not show a full outage.

How we track Zelle
The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Zelle, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Zelle, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.
When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Zelle doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
