How to fix Workday not working

Workday is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach workday.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

Reload the tenant sign-in page
Press Ctrl+R on Windows or Command+R on a Mac while the tenant sign-in page is open. If the page stays blank, paste the tenant URL into the address bar and press Enter; that clears a stale form post or expired redirect before you change any settings.
Clear Workday site data
In Chrome, click the icon to the left of the address, open Cookies and site data, then choose Manage on-device site data and delete the entry for the tenant address. Sign in from the tenant URL again; an old SSO cookie can trap you in a redirect loop or a blank page.
Use a supported browser for Workday
Open the tenant URL in a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari profile; in Chrome, go to chrome://extensions and turn off extensions before you sign in again. If the sign-in page loads there, your usual browser profile is the problem, and a pop-up blocker or stale extension can stop the SAML redirect.
Reinstall the Workday app
On iOS, open Settings > General > iPhone Storage and delete Workday from the app list; on Android, open Settings > Apps > Workday > Storage and clear storage. Reinstall the app and add your tenant URL again, because a broken cached sign-in session can survive a normal sign-out.

What happens when Workday goes down

Workday is a cloud system for HR, payroll, finance and planning work. Employees, managers, HR teams and finance staff use it for everyday tasks and payroll cycles, so an outage interrupts time tracking, approvals, pay statements and expense reports.

Sign-in stalls first. Pages time out and bounce you back to the login screen, while time clock entries and time-off requests may fail to save if the app stays unstable. Manager approvals queue without updating, and payroll teams can find pay runs and pay statements slow to open; expense entry and recruiting actions break at the save step. Trouble is often partial, one module or one region, and a full outage across every part is less common.

Is Workday down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for Workday are above their usual level. Why does Workday keep sending me back to the sign-in page?

A short session timeout or a stale cookie can break the organization sign-in loop. Open the company link in a private window and try the mobile app on cellular data; if both work, the browser cookie is the likely cause. If the loop persists, your HR or IT team may need to reset the account.

Why can't I submit an expense report in Workday?

Missing required fields and a receipt in the wrong format stop a report from moving. Open the report, check the red error text on each line, then use Save for Later and reopen it; if the Submit button stays gray, ask your manager whether the approval chain is complete.

Why does the Workday mobile app show old data or fail to load?

The app can hold a cached task list after a network switch, so you see old approvals or a blank screen. Sign out of the app and sign back in on Wi-Fi; if the browser version is current, the phone cache is the problem.

Why doesn't my payslip show in Workday after payday?

Payroll results appear after your company finishes the payroll run, and access can depend on your role or the pay group assigned to you. Check the Pay worklet for a pending or unavailable message, then ask payroll if the deposit posted without a matching payslip.
