How to fix Synthesia not working

Synthesia is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Check Synthesia status page
Open the official status page and read the banner at the top. It counts problem reports in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours, so a spike means other people hit the same wall. If the banner is quiet, move on to your browser.
Reload the Studio tab
Close the Synthesia tab and open it again. Press Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, then load the video you were editing. A hard refresh can clear a stuck 'Generating video' or a spinning avatar scene; if the page still hangs, sign out and back in.
Try a private window
Use a private or incognito window. Log in to the app there, because extensions and cached files often break the script editor or stop the export button from responding. If the app works there, disable extensions one by one or clear your browser cache; if it does not, switch to a phone hotspot or turn off your VPN before you ask for help.
Open Synthesia help centre
Send the error text and the name of the video that failed. Include whether the problem happens on a different network and in a private window, because that tells support if the fault is local or account-side.

Synthesia on Windows

Fix: To fix Synthesia on Windows, try running the application as an administrator and ensuring it is allowed through the Windows Defender Firewall. You can also update your MIDI keyboard drivers or reinstall the software.

What happens when Synthesia goes down

Synthesia is an AI video platform for turning scripts into videos with avatars and voiceovers. L&D teams and marketers rely on it for training and product updates, so an outage interrupts video creation, editing, exports, and playback.

During an outage, sign-in tends to stall first. The video generation queue can hang too, so you may get stuck on a spinner after logging in or watch an avatar fail to load while a voiceover renders in silence. Saving changes and exporting a finished video can fail, and a shared link may time out for viewers. These problems are often partial: one workspace or one avatar breaks while another project still opens, though a broader failure can take down sign-in and playback for everyone.

Is Synthesia down right now?

Why does my video stay stuck in the render queue?

A render that sits in the queue for a long stretch usually means the service is busy, and reloading the page often shows the job has finished or moved on. If the export keeps failing, cut the video down or swap in a shorter voiceover and try again. Slow or dropped uploads cause plenty of stuck jobs, so re-upload the asset from a stable connection. When other people on other networks hit the same wall at the same time, the trouble sits on the service side.

Why can't I sign in to my account?

Expired sessions and single sign-on rules for a workspace cause more failed logins than outages do, so try the reset link and a private window before you blame the service. If your company signs you in through its own provider, an admin there can say whether your access is still active. A login page that loads but rejects every account, across several people and several networks, points to a wider fault. The help centre, linked above, walks through account recovery.

Why did video generation stop when my subscription is active?

Credits belong to a workspace, so a seat on a team plan can run dry while the person next to you keeps generating. Admins can open the usage view and move credits between seats. If everyone in the workspace sees generation fail with credits still showing, that points at the service. Billing and plan questions belong with the help centre, linked above.

Why does the share link give my teammates a permission error?

Share links carry their own permissions, and a link copied before you moved the video into a folder can stop working. Open the video, check who the link is shared with, and copy a fresh one. Viewers outside your workspace need access granted before the link opens for them. If everyone who already had access sees the same error at once, the service is the likelier cause.
