How to fix Strava not working
Strava is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Your browser tries to reach strava.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Check Strava's official status page
Open https://status.strava.com in a browser before you change anything on your phone. If the page lists an active incident, the problem sits on the service side and you can wait for an update. If it shows no incident, move to the app checks below.
Force quit and reopen Strava
On iOS, swipe up from the bottom of the screen, pause, then swipe the app card away. On Android, open Settings > Apps > Strava > Force stop, then open it again. This clears a stuck session without signing you out.
Check Strava's location permission
On iOS, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Strava and choose While Using the App or Always. On Android, open Settings > Apps, pick the service, then go to Permissions > Location. Choose Allow all the time; a setting of Ask every time can leave the record screen blank or stop it from starting.
Reinstall the Strava app
On iOS, touch and hold the app icon, tap Remove App > Delete App, then download it again from the App Store. Android is the same. Touch and hold the icon, tap App info > Uninstall, then install it from Google Play; your activities stay on the server, so sign back in with the same account, and if it still fails, open the help centre at https://support.strava.com.
While Strava is down: what to use instead
- Record offline in the app Recording runs on your phone's GPS, so you can usually start and save an activity while the servers are struggling and let it upload once they recover.
- Your watch or bike computer A Garmin or Wahoo device keeps the activity file until it can sync.
- The website in a browser If the app hangs on a blank feed but the site still opens, you can upload a GPX or FIT file from there by hand.

What happens when Strava goes down
Strava is a fitness app where runners, cyclists, swimmers, and hikers record activities, upload routes, join clubs, and share progress with friends. An outage interrupts uploads, the feed, kudos, and segment updates you count on.
Uploads stall first. You finish a run, the activity sits on a spinner, and the app shows an upload failed message or a generic something went wrong screen; meanwhile the feed may serve old posts and reject new kudos or comments. Segments and leaderboards lag behind because those numbers need server processing after the upload, while recording itself can keep going offline and sync later. Outages often hit certain regions or accounts, so one person can open the app while another cannot log in or refresh.

Is Strava down right now?

Why does my Strava upload fail after a ride or run?
Uploads often stall when your phone loses signal mid-activity or the app has no background data permission; open the activity in the app and tap Retry Upload, or export the file and upload it from a computer. If the same file fails on two different connections, the file itself may be corrupt.
What causes a network error when I try to save an activity?
A network error usually means the app cannot reach the service's servers. Switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data and try again. If the save still fails, force close the app and reopen it; the recording may appear in your activities even when the save error does.
What should I try when kudos and comments stop loading in the feed?
Refresh first. The feed can go stale when the app caches old data, so pull down on the feed and open the activity directly. If kudos still do not appear after you log out and back in, check the official status page because the service may be the cause.
Why does my Strava subscription payment keep failing?
Card payments fail for ordinary reasons: the bank blocks the charge or the card expired. Update your card in the app, then try again from the subscription screen; if the charge still does not go through, contact your bank before you blame the service.
