Troubleshooting

How to fix SPORTSNET not working

SPORTSNET is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach sportsnet.ca over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Reload the Sportsnet stream

Press Ctrl+R on Windows or Command+R on a Mac to reload the browser tab, and close the app and reopen it if you watch on a phone. A stalled player often recovers after one clean reload. Try that first.

  2. Check Sportsnet reports on this page

The status at the top uses problem reports from viewers, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. A jump above the usual level points to a wider outage, while a normal level makes your device or connection the likelier cause.

  3. Retry Sportsnet on cellular

Turn off Wi-Fi and load the stream over cellular, or switch Airplane Mode on for a few seconds and off again to reset the radio. Disconnect any VPN before you retry, because regional rights checks can block live video.

  4. Clear the Sportsnet cache

On Android, open Settings > Apps > See all apps > Sportsnet > Storage & cache and tap Clear cache. If the player still fails, tap Clear storage and sign back in. On iPhone, delete the app and reinstall it from the App Store.

While SPORTSNET is down: what to use instead

  • SPORTSNET website If the app hangs or fails to load, open the same streams and scores in a browser, because the website can keep working when the app does not.
  • TSN Use TSN during outages.
  • CBC Sports CBC Sports carries live coverage of some national events and score updates while you wait for the app to recover.
  • TV broadcast If the stream stalls, switch to the cable or satellite channel that carries the game, because the broadcast feed runs independently of the app.
About

What happens when SPORTSNET goes down

SPORTSNET is a sports news and live video service for game streams and score updates, and the report level at the top of each page comes from user problem reports for it in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours, which shows whether reports are above their usual level; the site does not ping or probe the service itself. You rely on it when a broadcast or scoreboard is your main way to follow a game, so an outage interrupts the stream and the score updates you came for.

The live stream tends to break first, so you get a spinner or a load error while scores and headlines still open. Highlights can stall too. Trouble is often partial, and one stream or one region can fail while the rest of the site and app load fine, which is why a second device may work when the first does not. If the problem is on the service side, signing in again or switching from Wi-Fi to cellular rarely fixes the stream because the failure is upstream.

Questions

SPORTSNET FAQ

Is SPORTSNET down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for the service are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last day. A normal reading points to your connection, device, browser, or account. Try another network and load the same page on a second device. If it works there, the fault is local.

Why does Sportsnet+ say a live game is not available in my region?

The service follows regional rights for some NHL and NBA games, so a live feed can show as unavailable while the app itself works. Check your location permission, then open the same game page in a browser. If the app and browser show the same block, the event is outside your feed.

Why does the Sportsnet app sign me out or reject my TV provider login?

TV provider sign-in can drop after the provider changes your password or ends a session. Start with the provider site. Sign out of the app and sign back in through the provider link; if the provider site rejects the same login, your provider account is the problem.

Why does Sportsnet+ keep buffering during live games?

Live streams use more bandwidth than on-demand clips, and a weak Wi-Fi signal or a busy home network can cause stalls while the app stays connected. Check the local network first. Test the same stream on another network or lower the video quality; if the stalls stop, your network is the cause.

Why does a live game work on my laptop but not in the Sportsnet app?

Apps and browsers can hold different sign-ins, and a stale app session can block a stream even when the site works. Sign out of the app and sign back in. If the browser still plays, the app session is the fault.

How we track SPORTSNET

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for SPORTSNET, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for SPORTSNET, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. SPORTSNET doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
