How to fix Mediacom not working
Mediacom is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Your browser tries to reach mediacomcable.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Check Mediacom reports here
Use the banner at the top of this page. It shows whether user problem reports for the service are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours; a high level means other people report trouble, while a normal level points back to your home setup. The site does not ping or probe the service.
Power-cycle the Mediacom gateway
Unplug the gateway power, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in; if you have a separate router, give the gateway 2 to 3 minutes to boot before you power the router. Test one wired device before you try Wi-Fi so you separate a local network problem from a line problem.
Inspect the coax and lights
Check that the coax cable is hand-tight at the wall jack and at the gateway, and watch the power and online lights through one full boot. If the online light stays off or blinks after a power cycle, the line or signal is the likely fault, so call Mediacom support instead of resetting the gateway again.
Renew the Mediacom IP lease
On Windows, open Command Prompt and run ipconfig /release, then ipconfig /renew; on a Mac, open System Settings > Network > your connection > Details > TCP/IP and click Renew DHCP Lease. This clears a bad lease when other devices on the same Mediacom connection work fine.
While Mediacom is down: what to use instead
- Mobile hotspot Turn on your phone's hotspot when the home connection drops and you need a laptop online for email or a work call, though speed depends on your mobile signal.
- Cellular data Switch your phone off Wi-Fi and use its data plan for messages, maps, email, and checking the service account until the line comes back.
- Public Wi-Fi Use a library or cafe network for tasks that need a steady connection, such as sending a file or checking email, if you can leave the house.
- Support phone line Call the provider's support line when you need to report an outage or ask whether a repair is scheduled, and have your account number ready.
Problems at the same time as Mediacom
Since 27 October, Mediacom's only spike in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.
When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

What happens when Mediacom goes down
Mediacom is a US cable and broadband provider for homes and small businesses, with internet and TV service in smaller cities and rural areas. When it fails, your work, school, streaming, and home phone go down with it.
The first sign is often a page that will not load even though your Wi-Fi symbol looks normal; streaming stalls, video calls freeze, smart home devices drop offline, and app updates crawl because they cannot reach the internet. Cable TV may still work. Phone service usually fails with the internet, and trouble tends to be regional or partial: a town can lose service while the next stays up, and a single bad line can leave you offline with no wider outage. Your phone can show full Wi-Fi bars while every request times out, so you can check the report level at the top before you reset the router.

How we track Mediacom
The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Mediacom, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Mediacom, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.
When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Mediacom doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
