How to fix Flightradar24 not working

Flightradar24 is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

  1. Switch networks and reopen the app

    On iPhone, open Settings, then Cellular, then turn on Cellular Data for Flightradar24; on Android, open Settings, then Network & internet, then Internet, then switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data. Open the app again.

  2. Force quit and reopen Flightradar24

    On iPhone, swipe up from the bottom and pause, then swipe the app card away; on Android, open the recent apps screen and swipe the card away. Open the app again.

  3. Update the app or clear its cache

    Open the App Store or Google Play and install any pending update. On Android, go to Settings, then Apps, then Flightradar24, then Storage & cache, then tap Clear cache.

  4. Reinstall the app and open the help centre

    Delete the app from your home screen, restart your phone, then install it again from the App Store or Google Play. If the map still fails, open the help centre at https://www.flightradar24.com/help and describe what you see.

What happens when Flightradar24 goes down

Flightradar24 is a live tracker with a moving map, flight number search, altitude readouts and playback that travelers and spotters check during delays or diversions. You lose live positions.

You notice the live map first because planes freeze in place while timestamps stop updating although you can still pan around. Search fails right after. If you tap a flight for details, the panel opens blank or spins; playback and history load when data stalls because they pull cached tracks. Trouble stays partial in most cases, so your airport lags while other regions stay current.

Is Flightradar24 down right now?
The status at the top of this page shows whether problem reports for Flightradar24 are above their usual level. Why does the Flightradar24 app show a connection error while the website works?

Why do I see gaps or dotted lines in an aircraft's path?
Flightradar24 gets positions from several data sources, including ADS-B receivers on the ground and satellite links, so coverage changes as a plane moves. When the service loses contact for a while, the map can show a gap or an estimated track until a receiver picks the aircraft up again. That is normal over oceans and remote land. Your account or subscription has no effect on those gaps.

I paid for a subscription but the app still locks features. What should I check?
Sign in with the same account you used when you bought the subscription. On iOS or Android, the purchase may be tied to your Apple ID or Google account, so check that store login as well. If you paid on the Flightradar24 website, log in there and refresh your account. For billing or account access problems, use the help centre.

Why do some military or private aircraft never appear on the map?
Not every aircraft broadcasts ADS-B, and some operators ask to be hidden from public tracking. Coverage also varies by region, so a plane can be visible in one area and disappear in another. If nearby flights show but one specific aircraft does not, the missing data comes from the source rather than your account. You can confirm a servicewide outage by watching the report level at the top of this page.
