Troubleshooting

How to fix Agar.io not working

Agar.io is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach agar.io over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Reload the Agar.io tab

Keep one game tab open. On the web version, press Ctrl+F5 on Windows or Command+Shift+R on macOS to reload the page files and the game canvas.

  2. Open Agar.io without extensions

In Chrome, click the three dot menu, New Incognito Window, then go to https://agar.io and try one match. If it loads there, go to the three dot menu, Extensions, Manage Extensions, and turn off ad blockers or script blockers for the site.

  3. Clear agar.io site data

In Chrome, go to Settings, Privacy and security, Site settings, View permissions and data stored across sites. Search for agar.io, click the trash can for the site, then open the game again and sign in if you use an account.

  4. Refresh Agar.io DNS

On Windows, open Command Prompt and run ipconfig /flushdns, then restart your browser. On macOS, open Terminal and run sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder, then enter your Mac password when asked.

While Agar.io is down: what to use instead

  • Web version If the mobile app keeps reconnecting, try the browser version after closing the app.
  • Mobile app If the site will not load in your browser, the iOS or Android app may still open your account and a match.
  • Google Snake Use it for a quick solo snake game while you wait.
  • Little Big Snake Try it if you want another live arena game with growing creatures and short rounds.
About

What happens when Agar.io goes down

Agar.io is a multiplayer game on the web and mobile where players grow a cell by eating pellets and other players. Many US players use it for quick matches, so an outage can interrupt signing in, server selection, and live rounds.

When the service has trouble, the first sign is often a match that will not connect, although the site or app still opens. Live games may freeze or kick you back to the menu. Skins, nicknames, party links, and account access can load late or fail when the game backend is under strain. Problems can be regional or partial, and the status at the top of this page reflects public reports counted in 15-minute windows, not a direct service monitor.

Questions

Agar.io FAQ

Is Agar.io down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user reports for Agar.io are above their usual level in 15 minute windows over the last 24 hours. That status comes from reports sent to a public outage reporting service, not from monitoring by this site. Try a clean load: reload the page, open a private window, turn off VPN or ad blocking for a moment, and compare Wi-Fi with mobile data. If only one browser or network fails, the problem is probably on your side.

Why does the game stay on the loading screen or say Connecting?

A stuck Connecting screen often means the page loaded, but the game connection did not finish. Clear site data for agar.io, then reload with extensions off, especially script blockers, privacy tools, or ad blockers. If the mobile app hangs the same way, force close it and switch networks before reinstalling.

Why do I get disconnected after joining a match?

The game reacts fast to drops in latency, so a weak Wi-Fi signal or a VPN can kick you back to the menu. Close downloads, stop video streams on the same connection, and test without a VPN or proxy. If matches only fail on one network, your connection path is the likely cause.

Why can’t I log in or save my progress in the app?

If guest play works but account login fails, the issue may be with the sign-in provider or with stored app data. Check that your phone has the right time and date, then sign out and back in if the app lets you. Do not reinstall until you know your progress is tied to an account, since guest progress can be harder to recover.

Why did coins, skins, or a purchase not show up?

Store purchases can take a short time to appear after the payment screen closes. Restart the app and check your Apple or Google purchase history to confirm the charge went through. If the charge is there but the item is missing, keep the receipt and contact the game publisher through the app store support path.

How we track Agar.io

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Agar.io, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Agar.io, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Agar.io doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
