Troubleshooting

How to fix TDS Telecom not working

TDS Telecom is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach tdstelecom.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Reconnect to your TDS Wi-Fi

On an iPhone, open Settings > Wi-Fi and use the info button beside your home network to forget it; then join it again and enter the password. On Android or a laptop, open Wi-Fi settings and forget the network before you reconnect.

  2. Restart your TDS router

Unplug the router's power adapter and leave it off for 30 seconds before you plug it back in. Give it a minute. If a separate modem sits nearby, power-cycle that unit too before you test the connection.

  3. Check for a TDS outage

No official status page is known, so open the help centre at https://www.tdstelecom.com/contactus and ask whether an outage is open in your area. The meter on this site only tracks whether user problem reports are above their usual level; it does not probe your connection.

  4. Test a TDS wired connection

Plug a laptop into the router with an Ethernet cable and open a site you know loads normally. If the wired link works and Wi-Fi does not, the trouble is in the Wi-Fi network; if both fail, contact the help centre at https://www.tdstelecom.com/contactus.

While TDS Telecom is down: what to use instead

  • Mobile hotspot If the home internet drops, turn on your phone's hotspot and connect a laptop or tablet so you can keep working; keep an eye on data use.
  • Cell phone When the home phone line is dead, use your cell phone for calls and texts.
  • Public Wi-Fi A library or cafe Wi-Fi can get a file sent or a form finished when your home connection is out; save sensitive logins for your own network later.
  • TDS help centre Open the help centre on mobile data when the app or service page will not load, then use the contact page to ask about the outage.
Same time

Problems at the same time as TDS Telecom

Since 27 October, all 2 of TDS Telecom's spikes in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.

When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

A spike is a sharp rise in problem reports from users, as the live pages showed it. Times are Central European time.

About

What happens when TDS Telecom goes down

TDS Telecom is a U.S. broadband and phone provider for homes and small businesses, often in rural or small metro areas, so an outage cuts off web browsing, video calls, streaming, and voice calls. That disruption hits work and daily routine.

During a problem, a page may hang, a video call may freeze, a stream may buffer, or a landline call may fail to connect. The first sign is often your Wi-Fi still showing connected while pages fail. TV and voice trouble can follow if the same local line is affected, and problems can stay inside one neighborhood or spread across a wider service area. One account may work while another nearby fails.

Questions

TDS Telecom FAQ

Is TDS Telecom down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for TDS Telecom are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. To see if the trouble is only on your side, open another site on the same connection, try a second device, and switch one device to mobile data for a quick comparison. If only TDS services fail across those checks, reach the company through its help centre at https://www.tdstelecom.com/contactus.

Why does my TDS internet show connected but pages will not load?

A connected Wi-Fi icon only means the device reached the router; it does not prove the line is passing traffic. Restart the router and modem, then test a wired device if you can, because that separates a Wi-Fi issue from an outage or account problem. If the same failure follows every device, report it to TDS through the help centre.

Why does my TDS online account keep signing me out during a bill payment?

Session timeouts and browser cookie rules can sign you out before a payment finishes, especially if you switch tabs or use a private window. Sign in again in one tab, complete the payment without leaving the page, and check your bank or card account before trying a second payment. If the charge posts twice, contact TDS support with the payment date and amount.

Why does TDS TV+ buffer on my TV but not my phone?

Buffering that follows one device points to that device's Wi-Fi signal or its app version rather than the whole service. Move the TV closer to the router if you can, then compare the same channel on another device to isolate it. If every device buffers on that channel, report it to TDS through the help centre.

Why does my TDS modem keep rebooting?

A modem that reboots on its own can have a power supply problem or a bad line connection. Check the power cable and give the unit space to breathe, then contact TDS if the reboots continue. Note the times it happens, because that pattern helps support narrow the cause.

How we track TDS Telecom

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for TDS Telecom, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for TDS Telecom, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. TDS Telecom doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
