Reload the page (Ctrl+F5, or Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac), or fully close the app and open it again.
Try another connection
Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. If it works on one and not the other, the problem is your network, not Square.
Update the app
Install the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. Old versions can stop connecting after a server-side change.
While Square is down: what to use instead
- Cash Take cash for counter sales when the card reader will not connect and the line is moving.
- PayPal Use PayPal to send an invoice or request a payment if you need a card payment and the terminal is offline.
- Venmo Use Venmo to request a quick payment from a customer who has the app and the amount is simple.
- Web dashboard Open the web dashboard in a browser to check sales or send an invoice when the mobile app stalls on your phone.
Problems at the same time as Square

How we track Square
