Google Fiber outages and problems
In the past 24 hours, 191 user reports came in for Google Fiber. Counting only the 15-minute windows with a spike big enough to count as an outage, that comes to 100.00% uptime for the day.
The busiest 15-minute window had 11 reports, about 14 hours ago. That stays below our outage threshold, so it doesn't count as downtime.

How to fix Google Fiber not working
Google Fiber is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Your browser tries to reach fiber.google.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Test a second device on Google Fiber
Open a site on a second phone or laptop before you touch the router; if only the first device fails, restart that device and forget then rejoin the Wi-Fi network. A single bad adapter or stale connection looks like a service outage from one chair.
Restart the Google Fiber Network Box
Unplug the power cable from the Network Box, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, and let the lights settle for a few minutes. Do not unplug the Fiber Jack during this step.
Check the Fiber Jack lights
Look at the Fiber Jack indicator after you lift its cover. No light points to a power problem, so check the adapter and outlet; a light you do not expect points to a fiber or account issue, so contact support.
Try a wired connection to the Network Box
Plug an Ethernet cable from a laptop into a LAN port on the Network Box and turn off the laptop Wi-Fi. If the wired connection works, the Wi-Fi side or your device is the problem; if it fails too, the fault is upstream or in the router, so contact support through your account.
While Google Fiber is down: what to use instead
- Mobile hotspot Tether your laptop to your phone's cellular data for email and a work call when the home line drops and you have a deadline.
- Public Wi-Fi Use a library or cafe network for urgent uploads when you cannot wait for the home connection.
- Offline downloads Save shows and documents before an outage.
- Cellular data Switch your phone off Wi-Fi and lean on mobile data for calls and maps until the service returns.
Problems at the same time as Google Fiber
Since 27 October, Google Fiber's only spike in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.
When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

What happens when Google Fiber goes down
Google Fiber is fiber internet for homes and small businesses. Remote workers, streamers, gamers, and people with smart home devices rely on it, and an outage interrupts video calls, streaming, cloud backups, and the Google Fiber app for account and Wi-Fi controls; the status at the top of each page shows whether user problem reports are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours.
A page that hangs or a speed test that stalls is often the first sign you see. Pages then fail, video calls freeze, streaming drops to a low resolution, and smart home devices go offline while your phone still shows a strong Wi-Fi signal; trouble can be regional or partial, so one block may lose service while a nearby address stays online. A wired device can fail while Wi-Fi still connects to the router. This site does not ping, probe, poll, or monitor services itself and never checks from multiple locations, so the top status reflects user problem reports only.

How we track Google Fiber
The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Google Fiber, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Google Fiber, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.
When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Google Fiber doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
