How to fix FIFA not working

FIFA is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Restart the FIFA app and console
Close the game completely, then relaunch it. If it still fails, restart the console: on PS5, press the PS button, choose Power > Restart PS5; on Xbox, press the Xbox button, go to Profile & system > Restart console.
Check EA server status
Open the EA Help server status page and look for the game's listing before you change any local settings. If the page shows an outage, wait and try again later; if it does not, move to the next step.
Test the console connection
On PS5, go to Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection. On Xbox, go to Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings > Test network connection; use a wired connection if you have one.
Repair the FIFA install
On PC, open the EA app, go to Library, select the game, open the three-dot menu, and choose Repair. On PS5, go to Settings > Storage > Console Storage > Games and Apps, select the game, choose Delete, then reinstall it from your library.

Why do I get "Unable to connect to the EA servers" in FIFA?

That message points to a failed connection to EA's game servers, so test another online game on the same device. Try another online mode or device on the same network; if it also fails, check EA's official status page and restart your router. If other games work, sign out of your EA account and back in before you retry.

Why did my FIFA Points purchase not appear in Ultimate Team?

Store purchases can lag while the platform and the game pass the receipt between them, so give it a short wait and restart the game before you buy again. Check the receipt in your console or PC store account, then open Ultimate Team again. If the balance still does not change, contact the store where you paid and keep the receipt handy.

Why does FIFA keep signing me out of my EA account?

The game ties your online profile to an EA account, so an expired sign-in or a mismatch with the account on your console can log you out. Sign in again with the same EA account you use for Ultimate Team, update the game, and try a different network if the sign-out repeats. If only one device drops, check for a pending system or game update.

Why does FIFA matchmaking keep returning me to the menu?

Matchmaking can fail when the game cannot fill a lobby in your region, and a strict NAT type on your router can block the connection even when the service is up. Try a different online mode first; if that works, the issue is likely the mode or region rather than the whole service. Restart the game and check EA's official status page before you change router settings.
