How to fix Dexcom not working
Dexcom is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Your browser tries to reach dexcom.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Reload and restart
Reload the page (Ctrl+F5, or Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac), or fully close the app and open it again.
Try another connection
Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. If it works on one and not the other, the problem is your network, not Dexcom.
Update the app
Install the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. Old versions can stop connecting after a server-side change.
Common Dexcom error messages
What each message means and what to try. The wording can differ a little between app versions.
-
Signal Loss
- Means
- The app has stopped getting glucose readings from the transmitter or sensor over Bluetooth.
- Fix
- Keep your phone close to the sensor, turn Bluetooth on, and keep the app open. Move away from anything that may block the signal, then wait for readings to return.
-
Sensor Error
- Means
- The sensor cannot give a glucose reading for a while.
- Fix
- Wait and watch the app, since readings can come back on their own. Do not make treatment decisions from the missing CGM value; use a fingerstick meter if you need a glucose number.
-
Brief Sensor Issue
- Means
- The sensor has hit a temporary problem and the app is pausing readings.
- Fix
- Leave the sensor in place unless the app tells you to replace it. Check again later, and use a meter if you need a glucose value before readings return.
-
Transmitter Not Found
- Means
- The app could not find the Dexcom transmitter during setup or pairing.
- Fix
- Check that the transmitter ID is entered correctly and that Bluetooth is on. Keep the phone near the transmitter and try pairing again.
While Dexcom is down: what to use instead
- Dedicated receiver If you have a paired G6 or G7 receiver, use it for glucose readings while the phone app or sign-in is failing.
- Fingerstick meter Use a blood glucose meter for treatment decisions when CGM readings are missing, delayed, or do not match how you feel.
- Clarity website If the Clarity app will not load, try the Clarity website in a browser to view reports or share data with your clinic.
- Call or text the wearer If Follow alerts stop coming through, contact the person directly and have them check their phone, receiver, or meter.

Tip: Dexcom doesn't list a public status page that we know of, so its help centre and the report chart on this page are the best places to check.
How we track Dexcom
The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Dexcom, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Dexcom, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.
When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Dexcom doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
