Troubleshooting

How to fix Crave TV not working

Crave TV is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach cravetv.ca over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Force close Crave

On iPhone, swipe up from the bottom edge and swipe the app card away; on Android, open Settings > Apps > Crave > Force stop, then open it again. If menus load but playback sticks, this clears a stuck player without touching your account.

  2. Try Crave on mobile data

Turn off Wi-Fi on your phone, play a short episode on mobile data, then turn Wi-Fi back on and try again. If the app works on mobile data but fails on home Wi-Fi, restart your router and modem; if both fail, the problem is likely on the service side or with your account.

  3. Sign out and back in

Open the account or profile area in the app, sign out, and sign in with your Crave email and password. If the sign-in screen rejects the password, use the Forgot password link on the Crave website to reset it, then try the app again.

  4. Clear Crave's cache or reinstall

On Fire TV, open Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Crave > Clear cache, and leave Clear data alone unless you want to sign in again. On iOS, delete it. Install it again from the App Store, or on a computer open Chrome and check Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Additional content settings > Protected content before you reload the player.

While Crave TV is down: what to use instead

  • Crave website If the app stalls or won't load, open the service in a browser and sign in there.
  • Netflix Use it for films and series when you need a show to play and the app will not start.
  • Prime Video Open it for movies on an Amazon account if a planned watch falls through.
  • CBC Gem Try it for Canadian news and shows.
About

What happens when Crave TV goes down

Crave TV is a Canadian streaming service for movies, series, live channels and HBO titles. Subscribers on phones, tablets, browsers and TV devices rely on it, and an outage interrupts sign-in, playback, downloads and live viewing.

The status at the top of each page shows whether user problem reports for Crave TV are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours; this site does not ping, probe, poll or monitor the service itself, and it never checks from multiple locations. Sign-in fails first. Playback then stalls, live channels refuse to start, and downloads or cast sessions break while the rest of the app may still show cached artwork; a generic 'Something went wrong' message can appear when you retry. Problems can be partial: one device, one title, one region or one account may fail while others work, which is why the report level is a better signal than a single failed play attempt.

Questions

Crave TV FAQ

Is Crave TV down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether problem reports for Crave TV are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. This site does not ping, probe, poll or monitor the service itself. To see if the trouble is only on your side, try another network and open the same title on a second device; if only one device or one Wi-Fi network fails, the problem is local.

Why does Crave say a title is unavailable in my region?

Crave is built for Canada, so a VPN or a trip outside the country can make a title fail even when your account is fine. Turn off the VPN and try the title again on a home network in Canada. If it still fails at home, the app or the stream is the likely cause.

What makes the Crave app sign me out on my TV?

A smart TV or streaming stick can drop the login when the app updates or when the network changes. Sign in again and check for an app update. If the sign-out keeps happening on one TV only, clear the app cache there and test your account on a phone before you blame the service.

Why does Crave keep buffering on my Fire TV but not on my phone?

Buffering on one device points to that device's Wi-Fi signal or app version; try a wired connection and reinstall the app. Compare the same episode on your phone over the same network. If the phone plays fine, the Fire TV setup is the likely cause.

Why can't I sign in to Crave after I reset my password?

A password reset may not close every session, so sign out of the app on each device you use and sign back in with the new password. Check that your email and password have no extra spaces, then confirm the app is set to the right region. If the login still fails on a second device, the account or the app is the likely cause.

How we track Crave TV

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Crave TV, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Crave TV, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Crave TV doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
