How to fix Postman not working

Postman is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Check the official status page
Open https://status.postman.com in a browser outside the app. If the page shows an incident or a spike in problem reports, the service is likely the cause, so wait for an update. You can also open the help centre at https://support.postman.com for known issues.
Restart Postman and retry the request
Quit the app completely with File > Exit on Windows or Postman > Quit on macOS, then open it again and send the same request. If it still fails, check the request's URL, method, headers, and variables for typos. A single bad environment variable can break every call that uses it.
Turn off proxy and SSL checks
Open Settings > Proxy and disable Use System Proxy if your network does not require one. Then go to Settings > General and turn off SSL certificate verification only for the test, because corporate proxies and self-signed certificates often cause connection errors. Turn it back on after the request works.
Reset Postman local data or reinstall
Open Settings > Data and use Clear cache or Reset local data, then sign in again. If the app still crashes or fails to load collections, uninstall it and install the current version again. Back up local collections first, because a reset removes them.

Fix Postman on Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone

Postman on Windows

Fix: If the Postman desktop app is not responding on Windows, try clearing the app's local data directory or disabling hardware acceleration in the settings. You can also check if your Windows proxy or firewall settings are blocking Postman's network requests.
Check: Verify if Postman is down by checking the official Postman Status page or attempting to sign in to the Postman web dashboard. You can also test if other web services are loading to rule out local network issues.

Fix: Resolve Postman issues on macOS by force quitting the application and clearing its active cache from the Application Support folder. Also, ensure that Postman has the necessary network permissions in your macOS System Settings.

Fix: If you cannot access the Postman web platform or dashboard on Android, clear your mobile browser's cache and cookies. Ensure your device is not connected to a restrictive VPN or firewall that blocks Postman's API services.

Postman on iPhone and iPad

What happens when Postman goes down

Postman is an API platform where people build, test and document requests inside collections and shared workspaces, and it runs as a desktop app, a web version and a command line runner. When the service goes down, the shared half of that work stops: collections quit syncing, teammates lose sight of each other's edits, and a request that worked an hour ago may fail before it leaves your machine.

Sync breaks first. The app opens, your local copy still sends requests, and everything you changed sits there without reaching anyone else. Calls that need a fresh token or a cloud round trip come back with 'Could not send request' or a connection error, while mock servers and cloud monitors stop answering, so a test run that depends on them fails with no useful reason attached. Trouble is usually partial: one region or one workspace drops out while another keeps working, which is why two people on the same team can disagree about whether anything is broken.

Is Postman down right now?

To tell whether the problem is only on your side, try a simple public API request from the web app and the desktop app, then switch networks. If every request fails only in one app while other services load fine, the issue is local.

Why does Postman show 'Could not send request' when I run a collection?

That message usually means the request never left your machine or the target host refused it. Check the request URL and your proxy settings, then try the same call from a browser or another network. If only one request fails, the API server is the likely cause; if every request in a collection fails, look at the app and your network.

Why did my Postman collections stop syncing across devices?

Sync needs a signed-in session and the same workspace on each device. Check that you are in the right workspace and that the collection is not in trash; then sign out and back in on the app that shows stale data. If the collection never appears, use the help centre to check for workspace access or account issues.

Why do I get 'self signed certificate in certificate chain' in Postman?

That error shows the target server sent a certificate your computer does not trust. In the app settings, turn off SSL certificate verification for that request to test, or add the certificate to your system trust store. Keep verification on for real API calls; if the web app works and the desktop app fails, your local trust store is the difference.

Why can't I sign in to my Postman account or verify my email?

Sign-in trouble often comes from an old password in your manager or a verification email stuck in spam. Try a password reset and open the web app in a private window; if the desktop app still loops, sign out and clear its cache before you sign in again. When the email never arrives, check the help centre for account recovery steps.
