How to fix Clash of Clans not working
Clash of Clans is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:
Your browser tries to reach supercell.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Check Clash reports
Look at the status at the top of this page before changing settings. It compares user problem reports with the usual level in 15 minute windows over the last 24 hours; those reports go to a public outage reporting service, and this site does not collect them.
Restart the village
On iPhone or iPad, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause, then swipe Clash of Clans up to close it. On Android, open Recents and swipe the app away, then open it again from the home screen or app drawer.
Test another connection
Switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data, or try a different Wi-Fi network if the loading bar hangs. On iPhone, use Settings > Wi-Fi and Settings > Cellular; on stock Android, use Settings > Network & internet > Internet.
Refresh the install
Update the app first: on iPhone, open App Store > profile picture > Available Updates, and on Android, open Play Store > profile picture > Manage apps & device > Updates available. If Android still fails, go to Settings > Apps > Clash of Clans > Storage & cache > Clear cache. Delete and reinstall only if you know the village is linked to Supercell ID.
Common Clash of Clans error messages
What each message means and what to try. The wording can differ a little between app versions.
-
Connection Lost
- Means
- The app lost its session with the game server, often because the network dropped or the server stopped responding.
- Fix
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, then reopen the app. If it keeps returning, wait a few minutes because the server side may be having trouble.
-
Client and server are out of sync!
- Means
- The app and server disagree about the current game state, so the game cannot keep that session open.
- Fix
- Reload the app and let it reconnect before starting another attack or upgrade. If the same message appears again, update the app if an update is available and try again later.
While Clash of Clans is down: what to use instead
- Clash Royale Play this Supercell card battler if you want short matches while your Clash of Clans village will not load.
- Boom Beach Use this Supercell strategy game when you still want base building and attacks, but can wait on clan war or raid timers.
- Brawl Stars Open Brawl Stars if you want quick multiplayer rounds and your problem is limited to the Clash of Clans app.
- Hay Day Use Hay Day for a slower Supercell game, which helps when you only need something low pressure while the service recovers.
What happens when Clash of Clans goes down
Clash of Clans is Supercell’s mobile strategy game for iOS and Android, built around villages, troops, clans, and wars. Many US players rely on it for raids, donations, and timed war attacks, so an outage can interrupt both casual play and clan plans.
Problems often show up first at sign in, with the app stuck on the loading screen or showing a connection lost message. Matchmaking can fail during attacks, and a bad handoff may leave you unsure whether a raid counted. Clan chat, donations, war scouting, and shop actions can lag or stop while other parts of the game still load. Issues can be regional or partial, and this page’s status comes only from public outage reports counted in 15 minute windows over the last 24 hours.

Tip: Clash of Clans doesn't list a public status page that we know of, so its help centre and the report chart on this page are the best places to check.
How we track Clash of Clans
The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Clash of Clans, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Clash of Clans, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.
When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Clash of Clans doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
