Troubleshooting

How to fix Fizz not working

Fizz is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach fizz.ca over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Check the Fizz report level

The bar at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for the service are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. It does not ping or probe the service. A normal level points to your phone or account, so go to the next step.

  2. Cycle airplane mode for Fizz

Turn Airplane Mode on and leave it for ten seconds. Turn it off, then check that Mobile Data is enabled; on iPhone the switch is in Settings > Cellular, while Android has it under Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network, though the label varies by maker. Try a call and open a web page after the phone rejoins the network.

  3. Restart and reseat the Fizz SIM

Power the phone off and remove the SIM tray. Check that the card sits flat with no dust on the contacts, then put the tray back and power on. If the phone still shows no service, move the SIM to another unlocked phone for one test.

  4. Reset network settings for Fizz

On iPhone, open Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings; this clears saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth pairings, so have those ready. On Android, open Settings > System > Reset options and choose the network reset entry; the label varies by maker. Do this after the SIM test, since it is the most disruptive step.

While Fizz is down: what to use instead

  • Fizz website When the app won't open or sits on a loading screen, sign in from a browser to check your plan, usage, or payment.
  • WhatsApp If texts won't send and you have Wi-Fi, message the same person in WhatsApp when they have it too.
  • Landline or borrowed phone Use a landline or borrow a phone for an urgent call that can't wait.
  • Public Mobile prepaid SIM If the outage drags on, a Public Mobile prepaid SIM puts you on a different network for calls and texts.
About

What happens when Fizz goes down

Fizz is a Canadian mobile and home internet provider with a self-serve app and website, and people rely on it for calls, texts, mobile data, and home internet. An outage interrupts those services and can leave you unable to check your account or change your plan.

Mobile data often stalls first; calls then fail or drop, and texts arrive late or not at all. The app and website can stop loading account details, or they reject a plan change while the network is having trouble, and home internet can drop if you use Fizz for that service. That varies by area. Problems are often regional or partial, so service may work a few streets away while your area is out.

Questions

Fizz FAQ

Is Fizz down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether problem reports for the service are above their usual level; it counts reports in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. To check your side, try the same action on a second device, then switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. If both devices fail on both connections, the issue is likely on the service side.

Why does the Fizz app say my payment failed when I top up my wallet?

A failed top-up often means your card issuer declined the charge or the saved card expired; check the card in My Account, then try the website instead of the app. If the wallet still does not update, wait for the pending charge to clear before you try another payment method.

How do I activate my Fizz SIM card if the activation page will not load?

Try the activation step in a private browser window and on mobile data, because a saved session or ad blocker can stop the page from loading. If the SIM number is already linked to your account, sign in to My Account and check whether activation finished before you repeat it. Do not start a second activation while the first one is pending; wait for My Account to show the SIM as active.

Why is my mobile data not working after I changed my Fizz plan or add-on?

A plan change can take a short while to reach the SIM, so restart the phone and toggle airplane mode before you change settings. Check in My Account that the new plan or add-on is active and that the Fizz SIM is selected for mobile data. If calls still work and only data fails, test the SIM in another phone to separate a device issue from an account issue.

Why does the Fizz app keep signing me out or looping back to the login screen?

A stale app session or a blocked cookie can cause the loop; clear the app cache and sign in again after an update. If the website does the same, open a private window to rule out a browser extension or saved password, then check whether your account shows a hold or unpaid balance.

How we track Fizz

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Fizz, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Fizz, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Fizz doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
