Troubleshooting

How to fix CanalPlus not working

CanalPlus is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach canalplus.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Relaunch myCANAL

On iPhone or Android, open the app switcher, swipe myCANAL away, then open it again and replay the same channel or programme. This clears stuck playback. On a computer at canalplus.com, press Ctrl+F5 on Windows or Command+Shift+R on macOS to reload the player without the old page.

  2. Refresh the CANAL+ sign in

On canalplus.com, select the account icon, choose Déconnexion, then sign in again with the email linked to your subscription. Do not switch emails. If a channel still asks you to subscribe, open Espace Client > Abonnement and check that the subscription is attached to that account.

  3. Clear myCANAL data

On Android, open Settings > Apps > myCANAL > Storage and cache > Clear cache, then reopen the app. Chrome keeps site data. In Chrome, type chrome://settings/siteData in the address bar, search canalplus.com, delete that site data, and sign in again.

  4. Reinstall myCANAL

On iPhone, touch and hold myCANAL, choose Remove App > Delete App, restart the phone, and install it again from the App Store. This is the slow step. On Android, open Settings > Apps > myCANAL > Uninstall, restart the phone, and install it again from Google Play.

While CanalPlus is down: what to use instead

  • myCANAL app Use the app on mobile, tablet, smart TV, or streaming stick if the website loads badly but your account still signs in.
  • canalplus.com in a browser Try the website if the app freezes, loops on sign-in, or will not start playback.
  • TV decoder Use your CANAL+ decoder or operator TV box if live channels fail in the app but your TV service still has the channels.
  • Netflix or Prime Video Use a separate streaming subscription for films or series while replay and live playback are unavailable.

About

What happens when CanalPlus goes down

CanalPlus is the French Canal+ subscription TV and streaming service at canalplus.com, with viewing through TV decoders, the web, the myCANAL app, and connected TVs. If you rely on it for sport, films, series, or live channels, an outage can stop sign-in and playback.

Login often fails first. The myCANAL app may accept your password and then spin, return you to the start screen, ask you to sign in again, or say that a problem occurred. Live TV can freeze or open to a black player, while replay and on-demand titles may still appear in the catalogue but refuse to play. Problems are often partial: a decoder at home may keep working while the website or app fails, and some reports cluster by region or internet provider.

Questions

CanalPlus FAQ

Is CanalPlus down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether problem reports for CanalPlus are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Those reports come from a public outage-reporting service. To check your side, try mobile data instead of Wi-Fi, test the web player against the TV app, and restart the device; if only one connection or device fails, the problem is probably local.

Why does myCANAL say Une erreur est survenue when I start a live channel?

That message often appears when the player cannot start the stream or confirm your viewing rights. Close the app, sign in again, and try the same channel in a browser. If live TV fails everywhere but replay still opens, wait before changing account settings.

Why can I sign in on canalplus.com but not watch a channel?

The login can work even when the viewing rights check fails. Open the subscription area and confirm the contract appears under the same email; then sign out of the app and sign back in so the rights refresh. If every channel asks you to subscribe, compare the app with the browser before changing payment details.

Why is the myCANAL app stuck on the CanalPlus logo on my TV?

A stuck logo points to the TV app failing before it reaches the sign-in or player screen. Force close the app and restart the TV or box. If it still hangs, update the app and test myCANAL on a phone or browser, since that separates a device problem from a wider service problem.

Why do I get a black screen or spinning wheel during live TV on myCANAL?

A black screen with sound, or a spinner that never ends, usually means the stream started but playback stalled. Switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data if you can, or try another live channel. If you are outside France or using a VPN, rights checks can block playback, so test again without the VPN.

How we track CanalPlus

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for CanalPlus, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for CanalPlus, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. CanalPlus doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
